I find them pretty easy to operate manually. The app is OK, but could be improved, with that being said it gets the job done. My only problem with these lights is how cumbersome it is to add the diffusers or barn doors. The barn doors have to be literally screwed on, so taking them off to add a diffuser is a whole thing. Also I absolutely hate the foldable diffuser, they are so annoying to set in place with those Velcro straps. I wish GVM would come up with a more simple solution to adding light modifiers to these lights. I find that these work best while being used in conjunction with other diffusers for the best light. Other than that, these are pretty great and super bright for the price, the case is pretty nice too.
