It paired no problem, right away. Yes it's basic, but it works and is exactly as expected. I bought a matching mouse too. Before trying it, I charged the keyboard and mouse (not by the same mfg.). The mouse has a red light that changes to green when it's fully charged. i wish the keyboard did that too, because I have no clue if it's fully charged or not, not to mention, the red light goes out after a while. The instructions say that's normal, but what does it mean? The functions on the top row work great. The only thing I didn't realize was that there is no black apple on the cover. It's a hole where your apple can show through. I thought it had a black apple to match the black keys. Anyway, you don't even have to snap the iPad into the case. I just lean it in my silicone protective case up against the pink cover and use it that way. I did try the iPad Pro 9.7" in the keyboard cover and it fits perfectly.
