I love how this one connects to my wifi network instead of to an additional unit through bluetooth. I'm generally on the opposite side of my house from where my grill is, so being able to use the range of my wifi network to monitor temperatures is awesome. Another feature I really appreciate is how the app plots the temperature on a graph, so not only can I see what the current temperature is, I can see how the temperature has been trending for the entire cooking session. I cooked a few racks of ribs on my smoker shortly after getting this device and it worked very well. My only concern is that it has a built-in battery that has to be charged.
