3 🌟🤔I think I'm an outlier once again but I didn't find it fascinating or mind-blowing at all. It was very slow until the last 10 pages and there aren't plot twists either.I couldn't feel sad or worried about the missing "people" but maybe the only character who I felt some kind of connection was Kate 😬I don't know, I don't really think is that worthy tbh.

Kubica masterfully plays with themes of trauma, guilt, and the consequences of hidden truths.
Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica is a suspenseful thriller I read in a day and a half! That’s not an easy feat for me as my eyes usually begin to close, and I wake with a book landing on my face. The opening of this novel is everything you want in a thriller; it’s an absolute gripping page-turner where I felt my heart racing as I read page after page. The story primarily focuses on the disappearance of two women and a young child (Delilah) from a quiet suburban neighbourhood—When Delilah is found some 8 years later, the truth of what happened the day she disappeared begins to unfold. The book is cleverly structured, with alternating timelines and points of view that slowly peel back layers of secrets, lies, and hidden motives. Kubica’s writing is atmospheric, and she does a great job of building tension, making you question who can be trusted as the story unravels. The characters are well-drawn, particularly the flawed but relatable main figures, and the psychological depth of the story keeps you invested in their fates. Kubica masterfully plays with themes of trauma, guilt, and the consequences of hidden truths.Highly recommend!
