This is made in Taiwan. Traditional the best sewing machines come from Europe. The US brands have not been synonymous with quality since the '70s. If you are looking for high-quality Bernina is one of the best brands around but I would suggest going and seeing your local dealer. Try to find one that carries multiple brands and physically go see the difference. Most sewing machine brands do not allow all their models online they have a Mass Merchant line for machines sold in big box stores and online and then they have a Dealer line that is only allowed to be sold by professionals through a brick and mortar store that is committed to educating the user and supporting the product. In most cases, these 2 lines from each manufacturer are different because the consumer expectation is different for Online/Mass Merchant machines they are expected to be of a lower quality packed with features, and less expensive. So they build them that way. Dealer machines are higher quality, have easier-to-use features, and are expected to last longer and work harder. With that said that does not make them more expensive in most brands the Dealer line is still going to start below $200. **Q: Does it do rolled hems?** A: yes very easy to switch and it does a very nice job!
