It was fairly easy to assemble. And it came pretty quickly. Raising and lowering the place where the sewing machine sits is awkward. For my table, it takes a tool to loosen the bolts so I can change levels (for those times when I need a flat surface). Fortunately it's really not something I see doing very often so it's not a deal-breaker for me. The corner of the table also was a little dinged, but it was definitely not worth packing and sending back. I like the lower shelf (I use it to hold my power strip and other supplies).
