In the end, they find themselves saving a young girl from being sacrificed, and it turns out that this victim is far more dangerous than the cult she fled. There are some elements in this movie that aren't appropriate for children, including violence, frightening situations, drug use, drinking, smoking, foul language, and sexual content.I found this to be a little unbelievable and out there. It should be plausible even though it is fiction and not intended to be true. It is absurd for the four characters in this film to travel or engage in any activity together because they are not friends. Right off the bat, this movie doesn't make a lot of sense.The acting, music, and plotline were all dreadful. Only a few of the special effects were passably good. This low-budget movie really requires help. It's more reminiscent of a high school play. I'll explain.This is four characters who are not friends. Chloe, David, Elise and Seth. The two girls are cousins, so that's their connection, but they aren't into the same things. David doesn't like the cousin and REALLY doesn't like Seth. Why these four are going on any trip doesn't feel like it would ever happen in reality. Chloe is the only one who isn't totally annoying, but only just. Her motivations and mood seem to change scene by scene. David's motivations are even more random. First, he doesn't want to do any of the occult stuff, then he's all about "investigating".The ONLY character in this film who I liked was Alice. Sophie Dalah played her very well. But the four main morons make a long list of really stupid choices and decisions that were all necessary to make this plot happen. Example: You're sneaking up on a satanist's house in the dark. You have a flashlight. The LAST thing you do is have the light ON so that they might see you. But this total idiot Seth is shining it AT the house they're sneaking up on.The movie is full of that level dumb. There were only a very few interesting things done in this film. The rest was just painful to get through. The one good thing was the lighting and some of the cinematography. Good sound and score, horrible songs that played probably as a favor to someone.And then finally, the story. It was ... not good. With a few tweaks, maybe some of it could have made more sense, but it just felt like they shot a bunch of scenes and there wasn't a whole lot that connected them. Maybe the original script connected more of the dots and they just didn't have the time or budget to shoot everything. And there was literally no point to the whole thing. The 2nd act spelled out what was going to happen, and then it happened. No surprises, no triumph. There was one on screen death, and it was self-inflicted. The rest of it was just off screen screaming. And then one gag that was used twice. It was a good gag... but showing it twice was just silly.There was no sense to the kills, either. You only see the aftermath, so nothing is satisfying. I couldn't even cheer for these terrible characters to die. In short, this was a slow moving, unsatisfying waste of time that looked pretty good throughout, but just wasn't any fun or entertaining, and definitely not scary.Two out of five stars because the crew did their best to make a movie that looked and sounded good.
