The only reason that I don't put a 5-star rating is because the flies LOVE to lay their eggs in the mesh of the filter and by the time you take the compost out to the bin you have a lovely nursery of fly larvae as well! It keeps them out of the actual compost (which is not a problem either way) and it DOES reduce the smell of decomposing food, but at a big trade-off!

This is a great filter for use with our compost keeper. We use it for our stainless steel compost keeper and we have never had a problem with odors and we keep it indoors.

I give this product 3 stars overall because they do work well. They have no scent so 1 star. Are they supposed to have a scent? I don't think so, but maybe by giving this category 1 star the powers that be who create these ratings will figure out this does not apply. Same goes for easy to clean. They are not meant to clean, are they? They're disposable, meant to be thrown away once they no longer prevent odors in the compost cannister. So, 1 star on that category as well. The value for money is a legitimate ask, and honestly $3.25 for one carbon filter, even though it should last 6 months, is pretty steep in my opinion. I will shop around.

We have a bottom cabinet for the pull-out garbage and recycling cans. I tossed these two behind the cans and the smell and humidity has been better ever since. Highly recommend.
