The pedals feel sturdy and substantial, without feeling too heavy. These are quite a bit larger than the generic pedals commonly seen on cheap bicycles. This makes for a comfortable pedaling even with soft soled shoes. The surface has small knobs to provide grip without being excessively rough. The threads easily turned onto the cranks with a little grease. The bearings seem to be of good quality and the pedals rotate easily. The holes in the side of the pedal are generously sized and make it very easy to install a foot strap. The logos are subtle and the overall appearance is clean and attractive.

I like the pedals overall, and it was pretty simple to install (make sure you have the left and right correct, and add just a bit of grease on the threads before tightening). However, I'm disappointed with how it came. The inner packaging came ripped already with the pedals rolling around loose in the amazon packaging, and one of the pedals had some dents. Honestly, this does not really matter overall since I'm sure I did more damage to the pedals after a few rides than how it came, but it's just disappointing to open something new and see this.

I bought this to replace my aluminum alloy platform style pedals on a hybrid bike. The older platforms are excellent for street use but horrible when using on unpaved roads. They just do not inspire confidence to "stand on" the pedals when needed. These fixation gates platform pedals are noticeably heavier but obviously a bit better on dirt roads. For now, I shall be using these on the bike and will decide later whether to return / reinstall the aluminum platforms when the bike is back to on-road use exclusively. I will also update the review for longevity and durability issues if I encounter anything
