It seems to be on dim when the sun is shinning through the window. It still works so I put the smoke colored cover that came with mine on it so I can't see it light up. **Q: I wan to install this ir receiver vertically, kind of hanging behind my tv. will it work well in this application?** A: The eye will need to be visible for it to work properly. **Q: Does the IR-350 run at 5v or 12v ?** A: 12VDC is optimum, measured at the IR-100 terminal block (under load). But, 11-13VDC, measured the same way, will work just fine with no loss of performance for runs under 200 feet. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Works just as it should *by R***Y on Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2015* I have a few of these in different rooms of my house, since I share cable boxes, Tivos, and IPTV devices between all my TVs. They work great, and Buffalo's tech support is awesome. I had a problem with the first one I installed. One call to Buffalo's tech support, educated me on what I was doing wrong and gave me a couple of pointers that have made all future additions work flawlessly.My system has been in use for about 10 years, with additions to the system 2-3 times in between. I've never had a problem with any of the components from Buffalo IR.In comparison, I purchased a cheaper system at one point just to allow me to keep the doors to my entertainment cabinet closed while using the remote. It NEVER worked. I replaced it with Buffalo components and haven't had a problem since. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Shielding issues but works ok *by S***C on Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2012* Like a few of the other reviews, I too was having trouble with noise. I tried all the different filters with no luck. I finally grabbed some tin foil and wrapped the base and that solved the problem. It seems to have a shielding issue. I used my on a control4 system. I ran a few blasters out in my network cat5 to tv's around the house and went to add one more when I reached the limits of the HC300 blaster output. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work with Samsung Plasma *by S***S on Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2012* As others have stated my Plasma TV generates enough IR noise that it overwhelms the sensor in this and keeps the signal from reaching the gear its intended to control. It comes with some filters to put in front of the sensor that severely limit its range to the point where it just didn't work for me. If you have a LCD or Plasma TV there's a good chance this may not work for you.
