Review: I should have discovered this sooner - The Lena cup was recommended to me by the quiz results from putacupinit.com Although the quiz recommended I get the Lena sensitive, I opted to go with this two pack so I don't have to worry about getting the wrong size. I got these at about 11 am and already on my first day. So after boiling them for 5 minutes (make sure you don't leave these unattended while boiling), I let them cool before using. It was 1 pm when I started to attempt to put the smaller cup in but was only successful 2 hours later and on my 7th attempt. I took breaks between each attempt. By 9 PM, I was having a weird feeling and turns out, the cup was full. So somehow, I think you'll know when it's full. I had no problems in taking it out probably because it was full and the blood provided a lot of lubrication. I decided to use the large cup for overnight use . I still used a pad in case I leaked and said a little prayer that the cup won't be lost while I slept (I am paranoid, yes). Morning came and I was super happy I didn't have any leaks. Again, no problems in taking it out but this is probably because t was my second day when my flow is heaviest. For some reason, I had a hard time putting the cup back in after cleaning and so I wore a pad and continued to attempt to use the cup. I was successful by midday. But please note that I was doing each attempt for 10 minutes or so and with long breaks in between (like maybe 30-45 minutes in between each attempt). If it wouldn't go in, I wasn't about to force the issue. I was also doing this in the shower space of my bathroom because I didn't want to boil it again in case I dropped it in the toilet. Good thing too, because I learned very quickly that the cup can be slippery when you take it out. I spilled the cup because I dropped it accidentally when I was taking it out the first time and it looked like a crime scene. So ladies, I definitely recommend doing this while you're in the shower. More research led me to thinking that a water-based lubricant might be helpful. I'm going to try this for my next period. But will definitely get the Lena sensitive cups in the event that the water-based lube doesn't help. So based on my experience, I can tell you that you DO NEED TO BE RELAXED for when you put the cup in. When you take it out, BEAR DOWN to make it easier for you to reach in and break the seal. The cup itself is firm and that was part of why it takes me at least 10 minutes to try inserting the cup in. The cups have a tendency to open prematurely especially when I used the punch down fold. To be fair, I think this is both because it is firm and probably because I had a weak grip on it. I had better luck when I used the triangle fold. Once inside, I didn't feel the Lena cup to the point that I almost forgot I was on my period. I mean I knew it was there in the back of my mind but it was really comfortable that I only had to be mindful of the 12 hour time period. I cut the stem of the smaller cup too short so I really have to bear down when taking it out but I didn't have an issue with the stem of the larger cup. I like that the cup seals perfectly and I didn't have a single leak. I also didn't have an issue with it not opening correctly inside so I think that's an advantage of firmer cups. TBH, I think the large cup is better for me during the first three days of my period and I will probably switch to the smaller cup for the remaining days. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. I am definitely not going back to wearing pads and have been recommending period cups to my friends.
Review: I'm a super heavy bleeder... and I LOVE THIS! - Like all the reviews have said... once you go menstrual cup, you won't go back to tampons or pads! 😍 I was super skeptical at first since I lose A LOT of blood during my menstrual cycles. By A LOT, I mean... I change SUPER tampons every 1-2 hours on the first 2-3 days of my period (my menstrual cycle is 5-7 days) and I also have to wear pads incase it leaks (which it does, lol). So, yes, it's annoying but some girls weren't blessed with a light beautiful flow, lol. If there are any females out there like me, I feel your pain. But trust me with this and keep reading! Anyway, I heard that tampons had chlorine in them and just saying CHLORINE in tampons made me freak out 😱. Why would I want a liquid that cleans my pool... in my vagina?! 😳 . Then I began my search for healthier alternatives and that was when came across the menstrual cups. I heard about the DIVA cup, but that looked really cheap to me so I just let it go. I came across the LENA cup on my desertcart search and boy am I happy that I did! 😃 I am a first time menstrual cup user and I had no clue how to insert it or anything. I went through SO many reviews and Youtube videos and it helped out a lot. I currently have my period and I gave this baby a go! I was very eager to try it out. I have never been excited to get my period until I received the menstrual cup, lol! I ordered the LENA package that has the two sizes (small and large) because I really didn't know what my size was and really didn't want to spend money if I ordered the wrong size. Boy am I glad I ordered it! I tried the small size on the first day of my period and I had to empty it out within an hour... so yup, that one didn't work out with a heavy flow. I then tried the large size and it is perfect! 👌 I have never given birth or anything so I was scared that I would feel it, but it turns out that I do not feel it AT ALL. I have to change every 2-3 hours now (usually 3), instead of 1-2 hours. I was intimidated at first by the large size, but once you have it in there good, you won't feel it at all! I used to feel tampons, I don't feel this at all! I have forgotten that it is in there, lol. I leaked once because I let it overflow (my bad) but it won't happen again. Luckily, I actually got used to it on my first cycle since I guess I am used to wearing tampons so I was more comfortable with sticking my finger up in there, lol. Yes, you WILL have to stick your finger up in your vagina to place it in and remove it. If you do not like blood... then this isn't for you. It doesn't get super bloody where your hand is drenched in blood when you take it out, BUT, you will be having to deal with blood on your finger and hand when it comes to cleaning it out and putting it back in. You should just be comfortable with your body. It's YOUR blood, girl. Love your body and your blood, lol. ❤️ I first tried it sitting down on the toilet and squatting on the floor. I prefer the toilet because idk how I would feel about squatting on the floor in a public restroom, lol. So I made myself learn how to place it in and remove while on the toilet. It was weird at first, but like everyone says, you will get used to it. It may not be on your first cycle like me, but you will get used to it, don't give up if you fail your first time. 👀 TIPS 👀 When it comes to removing it I found out that making yourself push like if you're going to poop 💩 has worked well since it does go a bit far up and you have to grab the bottom of the cup so it can open up for an easier removal. Also, RELAX, breathe and don't get frustrated while inserting it or removing it. Your vaginal muscles tense up and you will just make the whole process annoying and you will want to give up. So BREATHE 😌. When you remove your cup, drain your cup in the toilet (make sure you don't let it go or it will fall inside the toilet bowl 🚽. Yes, it can happen.), then wash it in the sink if you're in a bathroom with a sink🚰. If you're not in a bathroom stall with a sink, dump the blood in the toilet and clean it off with toilet paper, then last step is to stick it back in there. Simple as that! 👍🏼 My favorite way to fold it is the C-fold. Another great thing is that you don't have that nasty period bloody smell that you get from tampons and/or pads ☠️! No more being embarrassed of that nasty scent since you will no longer have it! You will also be saving money monthly since this lasts up to 10-12 years! If you have a really heavy period like me, give this product a try! You won't regret it. Stop inserting chlorine where it should EVER be inserted (your vagina)! I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this product. I'm SO happy that I made the switch from tampons! 😍❤️

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is a menstrual cup and how does it work?**
A: A menstrual cup is a reusable alternative to disposable products that sits inside your body to collect flow during your cycle. The cup creates a seal to prevent leakage and unlike absorbent products, it can be worn for up to 12 hours.

**Q: Do I need a Small or Large Lena Cup?**
A: The Small cup is ideal for regular flow and for first-time users. The Large cup is designed for super heavy flow and greater capacity. Many users switch between sizes during their cycle. If unsure, start with Small.

**Q: What's the difference between Lena Original and Sensitive?**
A: The Original cup offers reliable firmness for easy insertion, making it perfect for active users. The Sensitive cup features softer, more flexible silicone for those with sensitive bladder & anatomy. Many users use both, based on comfort needs.

**Q: Is a menstrual cup safe for teenagers and beginners?**
A: Yes. Menstrual cups are safe for teenagers and first-time users. While there's a learning curve, most people master insertion and removal within a few cycles with practice. Many teens find cups convenient for school, sports and daily activities.

**Q: Can I use a menstrual cup while swimming, exercising, or playing sports?**
A: Yes. When inserted correctly, a menstrual cup is secure and won't shift during workouts, running, sports, or swimming. Many athletes prefer cups because they're reliable and leak-proof in water. The cup stays in place during physical activity.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for heavy periods + lighter days
*by A***R on April 22, 2019*

I cannot recommend this enough! I decided to try a different Diva Cup for my first and realized that the 'tail' of it was far too short and had a hard time removing it - and that is stress that is not needed nor at all pleasant. These two are the perfect size(es) with a great tail length if your cervix sits a bit higher (good to know, thanks Diva Cup). My period tends to run really heavy the first two to three days (replacing a super plus tampon every two hours heavy) but with this I can easily go 4+ hours without replacing or worrying about leaking with the smaller cup. On my heaviest days, I just use the slightly larger one and have been completely fine for 8 hours - I recommend using a panty liner still for any slight leakage that may happen from it not being in right. What is possibly the best part - I don't have to stress about staining my sheets anymore even on the heaviest nights. I just put on a pad and put this in - and I am fine. I've yet to have any type of issue with removing them - sometimes you have to bear down a bit but they are so easy to grip and remove, nor any issues with leakage. They are really easy to change in public too, easy to fit in your bag, easy to clean ( I use hot water to rinse them before and after each cycle). They have helped me save a ton of money on pads and tampons and saved me from a lot of stress that normally comes with my period. You also don't have to worry about that horrible dry tampon insertion, with these, if you put them in on a light day - there is no pain in inserting or removing them. I cannot recommend these enough - they are a real game changer!! Plus they come in cute little bags (great for storing them in between cycles) and a cute box which is always a plus :)
