I thought I followed the directions to set the code for this but now I can't open it, Any suggestions?

I also followed the instructions to set a new combination but after scrambling the combination and then going to the reset numbers, the lock wouldn't open. The "reset" wheel will not rotate now from its original position when bought.

With the reset button on the outside and obvious, can anyone just reset the combination on this?

Once Set, You'll need the right combination to reset the lock.

No it is not metal. It is hard plastic

What material is it made of?

Plastic, with interior foam, and a magnetic backing. Regardless, this is a horrible product and I've had to return two of them. The interior foam creates a small space for one key and, although it says it is removable, good luck trying to get it out. The combination spinners are impossible to use and the whole mechanism keeps freezing up (and I live in a hot, dry climate).
