Fun family game
An enjoyable game to play. I've played a few rounds with our daughter and she really enjoys it. Particularly now that she's figured out how to build infamy points and win. All total, it takes about 30-45 minutes to play. The game I purchased had mis-matched dice in it, but AEG is aware and has a link on their site to request replacement dice. Fast shipping as well. The replacements arrived 3 days after I requested them.

Experience all the joys of piracy without the seasickness and dryrations
A tableau building game with good theme. Not too much player interaction, but that is a plus if you like this kind of game. Game is not overly complicated so even if you are not familiar with board games of this type you should be ok. Plays well with 2 or 4 (teams of 2). Each player in effect builds their own game board and each can pursue different strategies (finding treasures, recruits lots of pirates, or just racking up points). Decent replay value as there are a lot of tiles to choose to from.

Components aside, it is a fun, pirate themed game
First off, the components in this game feel like the production was rushed. There is an issue with the dice, and AEG has admitted the mistake. Additionally, they have a link to get replacement dice, and the game can still be played with the incorrect dice. However, despite this, the game has several mechanics that make the game interesting. It has dice rolling, tile laying, some take-that, and resource gathering. It features engine building where you as a pirate captain will build up your island by plundering ports, recruiting pirates, and hunting for treasure. If you like these kinds of mechanics or like pirate-themed games, I think you'll enjoy it. Check out the video review for full details. Has some mechanic issues and some of the components are really bad; specifically the really unnecessary score board which came warped. Also the player Meeples, while cute in design, are not very user friendly. Too large for the hex spots to stand on comfortably or too awkward in shape to properly stand up. The hexes themselves get very crowed very quick making it a bit unmanageable. Aside from that, my friends and I enjoyed playing the game. Word of warning- can become very aggravating if the dice rolls are not in your favor. The first game one player in my group kept getting hosed on the dice rolls and by the end everyone had almost lapped him in terms of scoring. I'd recommend for an every now and then game.
