This would have been a 5 star review if only the author hadn’t included the reference and action of animal cruelty. We all know it happens (unfortunately and horrifyingly), but I don’t want to read about it in my fiction books, which are a chance to escape from the evil of this world. I do hope that authors take note of this as you will lose valued readers due to the majority of people finding it difficult to read about such instances.I was an avid fan of Sharon Bolton until she shared a clip on Instagram of her dog which had killed a rabbit and she was celebrating this fact. I, like many others, stopped reading her books as a direct result of this. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Wasn't That Impressed - Plot holes *by D***Y on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 February 2022* Amy a 29 year old has a fall and develops amnesia and can't remember anything from the last 6 months.A few days after her fall, after being discharged from hospital, she decides to continue with her 30th birthday celebrations by going to her Aunt's lodge in Val D'isere with her two friends and her mother. She tells her friends and mother that her boyfriend Jack can't come as he is working as a Doctor in a hospital.Whilst the girls are settling in, Jack turns up and Amy doesn't remember him, but he seems to know all about her.As the holiday continues Amy starts to have some memories come back and doesn't believe Jack is her boyfriend as she had made him up due to the constant pressure from her mother about when she will find somebody, plus Amy feels like a spare wheel as her friends are both married.As Amy has had a fall, all her friends and Mother think she is paranoid. So the question is, is Amy miss-remembering and Jack is really her boyfriend or is her memory correct and therefore, who the heck is this guy pretending to be somebody she made up, and how does he know so much about her.It's an interesting premise, but what I couldn't understand is in this day and age, why somebody who is 30 years old doesn't think to Google a person to establish whether they are real or not - especially somebody who claims to work as a Doctor in a hospital?It was an OK ish book, I just couldn't really gel with the characters that well and didn't want to rush to read the book.
