Celebrate 75 years of wiggly-jiggly fun with Slinky! Generations of children and adults have loved playing with Slinky. This classic metal spring toy walks downstairs, alone or in pairs, and makes a slink-ity sound. First invented by mechanical engineer Richard James in 1943 during an experiment with tension coils. James accidentally dropped a spring on the floor and watched as it began to “walk.” Two years later, he introduced his walking spring toy in Gimbels Department Store during Christmas, and the Slinky immediately sold out. Since its debut, over 300 million Slinkys have been sold worldwide. In 2000, this classic toy was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame. Made 75 years ago, Slinky continues to be a favorite toy of children and adults all over the world. Slinky is fun for a girl or a boy and makes an ideal gift, stocking stuffer, prize, or present. Everyone loves a Slinky! Suitable for ages 5 years and over. Directions Place the Slinky at the top of a staircase and let it walk down, alone or in pairs. Safety Warning Warning. My partner lamented the fact that he never got a Slinky, he thought that growing up in a bungalow, a Slinky wouldn’t have much fun anyway, though he still would have liked one. We always buy each other a little novelty gift for under the tree, to go with the main gift. So what better surprise to get him but an original Slinky. Well, the main gift never really ‘got a look in’ over the holiday period. It came in a nice box, and arrived quickly. I think I can hear the sound of a Slinky ‘on the move’ again. Review: Great fun! - Purchased this to use as a squirrel deterrent on the bird feeder. It didn't work but was great fun and worth every penny watching the squirrel work out a way to plunder the bird seed. His antics were hilarious, clever little chap! As for its original use, we did have several goes down the stairs with it , Just for old times sake! It worked perfectly every time. ## Features - Warning:Not suitable for children under 3 years. It is made with a heavier metal, which makes it work great. It goes down the stairs well. It's funny, because they labeled it "Giant"; but this was the size we had as kids. **Q: Does this go down stairs?** A: No it does not. Manufacturer made it too short to save costs and it does not walk any typical stairs - too short to make a step from one step to next. **Q: Where is this made?** A: Hello Ryan, Here’s a brief answer to your question. Made in the USA for 75 years. There’s only one Original Slinky Brand and this is a giant Slinky. There’s only one Original Slinky Brand!
