Time saver for sure, glad I bought it. **Q: What is the temperature range?** A: It is not settable. It is a plain "plug it in and heats up" iron. But judging by how fast it melts solder and joints, I'd guess it's on the aggressive side, meaning, up around 700 F. It melts the joints faster than the temperature-controlled workstation I use on my bench to do my soldering, and that is set at 650 F at the moment. This thing is hotter than that. **Q: What’s the highest temp the tool reaches?** A: I don't know the exact temp it gets to but it melts the types of solder I use just like my soldering iron does. It's super easy to use and heats up quickly, melting solder in a flash. The metal tip is a big improvement over those teflon ones that always seem to burn or melt. Plus, it's easy to clean and doesn't clog up easily. For it's current price point, it's a good middle-ground option between those cheap solder suckers and the pricier desoldering guns. Now, here's the thing: it works way better than those manual solder suckers, but it doesn't have the super-powerful suction I was hoping for. For components with two leads, it usually gets the solder out in one go. But sometimes it takes a few tries, even with through-hole contacts. With bigger components, like transistors or capacitors, you'll probably need to do several cycles of melting and sucking to get all the solder out. Holding it on the joint for longer helps melt the solder thoroughly, but be careful not to overheat the component. I didn't have any issues with the tip fitting over different sized leads, from tiny resistors to larger transistors and capacitors. It works best on two-lead components because the leads can move freely as the solder melts. With three-lead components, it's a bit trickier. Overall, this tool is definitely a step up from a basic solder sucker, but don't expect the same vaccum as one one a complete rework station.
