If I want to replace the HD, is this the best way to go? No need to by new OS?** A: If by unrepairable you mean SMART Current Pending Sector then offline duplication is NOT recommended. Tested on SDOCK2U33RE with a 1.5TB drive w/ 6 reported errors the duplication was still at 0% after 24 hours. Also be advised this model is NOT capable of retrieving SMART data over USB (newer chipset than older models). You're going to have to use ddrescue or such. **Q: Can I use as docking station** A: I had the same question. Yes, it can be used as a dock, both bays functioning at the same time with hard drives in each bay.
