I located the transformer next to my amp (in the basement), and cut off the low voltage plug. I had cat 5 running between the amp location and where I wanted the device. I used 2 of the cat 5 wires to supply the low voltage power to the device, and used 2 twisted pairs to return the audio signal from the device to the amp. I really thought it would not work, and if it did, I was expecting a lot of quality loss, but to my surprise, it worked like a charm. Not sure how long it will last, but for now, I'm happy.
