I am looking to go from a mixed red to a pale gray or blue on a fixer home.** A: what I did was create 7 cups of stain with different recipes and then tested on a extra brick to see what the colors would be and wrote down the recipes. One brick color also ended up being cup1 coat 1 and cup7 coat 2. If I was only looking for one color, test in 1-2 cups. I have a multi colored fireplace......now. This took 2 people 2 days. The time is in the 45 minutes per cup that it needs to mix so 2 people worked great.. BTW - this is exactly what I did.
