I'm making crafts.** A: The one I received couldn't Poke a hole in a piece of paper. It was manufactured without a sharp point and I had to use a bench grinder to get it sort of sharp. It was supposed to be American made but is made in China. The quality is typical cheap Chinese made. This is a perfectly good awl except that mine came with extruded metal on the sharp point, a manufacturing mistake. It isn't sharp enough to pierce through the leather. I bought it alongside a cheap beginner leather work kit as i was expecting this to be of high quality. Turns out the Awl from the cheap kit was 10 times better and actually pierced the leather.
