I bought this to use with my mac/usb c. i just need to purchase a usb c to usb a adaptor for it to work with a pc correct?

I believe that should be all you need. I actually didn't want to take up one on the USB-C ports on my Mac and had a USB-A hub so I just purchased the adapter and it works fine.
