So I purchased this scanner after reading the reviews. It worked out perfectly. I turned it on, waved it about 2 inches in a circular motion over the shoulder blades and it read a chip. From there I made a call to our local humane society with the chip number I received from the scanner, and from there the sequence of events following that cat was safely reunited with its owner. I had previously scanned my own pets, and it precisely recognized their chips. Note, it only provides you with the chip number, no owner contact information.
