Is this normal?** A: Yes. It is time for you to clean the cell. If you don't know how to do that, ask at your local pool supply store. Cleaning of the cell involves a cup or two of Muriatic Acid. Leave the acid in the cell with the open end facing up and to soak for about 20 minutes. Be very careful if you clean it with acid as Muriatic Acid is strong and corrosive and will burn exposed skin. Also, use caution not to breathe in the fumes. If allowed to build up, that stringy material will eventually cause your cell to fail to make chlorine for your pool. **Q: Does this replace the SC 36?** A: Yes.
