Reasonable for indoor gardeners/houseplants
Seems like mostly pine bark and not soil like as I was expecting. It also seemed to have a sort of smell but it isn't the well known forest floor one. While I like to think this is doing something for my container plants, it did do what it needed, amended some hydrophobic potting media I have. I recently added some orchid bark/perlite mix in no realizing it was dusty. The finer particles caused my potting mix to become hydrophobic. Adding in this bag of compost along with some other amendments being course perlite, coconut chips, horticultural charcoal and lava rocks.I can't speak for plant health with this brand just yet but it does remind me of "Back to the Roots" brand of potting mix which comes with compost similar to this. I would assume it helped to add some structure to my potting media and help with drainage.I have no other compost to compare this to but my own homemade blend which is not the same as this as mine smells like forest and has all sorts of nutrients considering the worms and other soil critters being mites. All in all, the price was reasonable for my needs as it was more than sufficient to amend a recovered possible 16 quarts of potting media. As it stands I may not reorder this brand but I will update my review in a month or two after getting my fall indoor garden together. I'm currently starting spinach, replanting cilantro, and up potting potatoes.

Glass pieces in soil
Found tiny pieces of GLASS inside the bag, ans the bark pieces are too big for compost soil, i had to pick through the soil before use. Bag packaging was faded which makes me think it was old or stored incorrectly.

Maybe not my best option
Doesn't seem to do much. Perhaps there just is not enough product to accurately judge.....

No expiration date
Very dry and if you don’t water compost or keep it moist it doesn’t work. I will be returning it.
