Review: Hagen Catit Design Senses Play Circuit = A Winner - My 8 year old male cat is strictly an indoor cat (best for cat health - and neighborhood relationships). He's a bit too bright for his own good, gets bored easily, has no other cats or pets to play with, so it's him and me here - and his toys. I've had the Hagen Catit Design Senses Play Circuit here for a few days now. I expected him to get bored quickly and move on. He hasn't. Every day, multiple times a day, he initiates play with it and spends time probling it to get the ball rolling, then following its path. Overall quality of design and construction: the tracks are smoothly surfaced, bevelled just enough at the connection points to encourage the counterweighted rubberized ball to pass the seam yet benefit from a very slight gravity push as they clear the seam - so with very little effort, the ball keeps traveling by momentum. This means: lots of movement for cat to watch. Sturdy construction. No detectable plastic odor (probably a good indicator it's non-toxic). Attractive construction - and since kitty enjoys it, I find I can even reduce some of the clutter of having a wide variety of cat toys out and about. (I really like that feature.) Top covers required a little attention on my part to snap together properly but once mounted, I found they are extremely well secured to the tracks (a snap secures them in opposite-pressure directions, so once lids are properly snapped, you would need to take a flatblade screwdriver and unclick the locking mechanisms from the bottom - and from inside a deeply welled space). That design is terrific because even a probing cat's paw will be unable to dislodge the lids if snapped together as designed (a paw will be too wide to fit the well). An aggressive, biting cat could probably rip this system up - it's rigid plastic, but a very harsh set of canine or feline teeth could do damage. My cat likes to bite slightly but not aggressively, so it's a good fit. I'm ordering one more for another spot in the house. Suggestion for reviewers whose cats were disinterested: try realigning the track into a different shape. At first I went for an obvious, simple 360-degree full circle, but that did very little to interest my cat. Fortunately, though the covers are secure, the tracks can be re-snapped together very easily at their connectors, so within a couple minutes I had it reshaped as a question mark - and for some reason that curved linear path seemed to work much better for my cat. Give the path change a try.
Review: Thought toy was a bust until it was moved nearby a curtain - I purchased this toy for my cats over a year ago, and set it up in an unfurnished room on our main floor where we keep a cat tower and the dog crate. It's an open room, so there are no doors or anything closing it off, and we'd be able to see the cats playing with their toy in what is essentially the "pet room" from many areas on that floor. My youngest most playful cat showed the most interest in it, for about 5 minutes by himself, and after that only would show interest again if I was showing interest in it. My 2 older cats were not interested. They seemed like they didn't know what it was, and that they didn't care. My dog, on the other hand, saw a ball in there, and wanted that ball, and tried her best to get it for a while and eventually gave up. So, the toy at least has good durability to withstand a golden retriever who really wanted to get that ball. I tried putting catnip around it, and all that did was cause one of my cats to lie around the toy, and the other 2 cats to eat the catnip that was around the toy. The toy was just some object in time and space and not a toy to my cats, it seemed. Changing the shape around in different ways was a futile exercise. The toy just kind of became part of the decor in the pet room, and I forgot about it, but one day when I was doing a thorough cleaning of the "pet room", I moved all the pet stuff to the next room (our living room), and that toy got moved next to our living room curtains. That night I heard the noise of the ball moving around in the rail, I go to see, and there's 2 cats, one behind the curtain, and the other on the other side of the toy watching the ball spin around. Okay, this is interesting, which of course means they stop what they're doing because they're being watched. But enough time has gone by with that toy there that I now know that all 3 of the cats apparently do understand this is a toy, and they all play with it like they know it is their toy. But they like to hide behind the curtain and then pounce the ball to hit it from out of the curtains like they're hiding in a bush stalking prey or something. So, the toy has been in our living room for at least 6 months and the cats regularly play with it. They don't play with it all day or for hours at a time or anything. But several times a day, one of 'em will go and play "stalk the ball", and sometimes the other cats will come over and watch, and will want to play "stalk the ball" for a couple minutes too. So, 5 stars. Every cat toy I've purchased has been a bust, and I thought this one was too, so that they play with it and know it's theirs, and that wasn't destroyed in 5 seconds, counts a lot. It really seems like cats are the most entertained by things that aren't cat toys, like hair ties, dinky pieces of string, and the little plastic pull on the cap of a gallon of milk, though. In other words, things that cost, like, nothing at all.

My 8 year old male cat is strictly an indoor cat (best for cat health - and neighborhood relationships). He's a bit too bright for his own good, gets bored easily, has no other cats or pets to play with, so it's him and me here - and his toys. I've had the Hagen Catit Design Senses Play Circuit here for a few days now. I expected him to get bored quickly and move on. He hasn't. Every day, multiple times a day, he initiates play with it and spends time probling it to get the ball rolling, then following its path. Overall quality of design and construction: the tracks are smoothly surfaced, bevelled just enough at the connection points to encourage the counterweighted rubberized ball to pass the seam yet benefit from a very slight gravity push as they clear the seam - so with very little effort, the ball keeps traveling by momentum. This means: lots of movement for cat to watch. Sturdy construction. No detectable plastic odor (probably a good indicator it's non-toxic). Attractive construction - and since kitty enjoys it, I find I can even reduce some of the clutter of having a wide variety of cat toys out and about. (I really like that feature.) I purchased this toy for my cats over a year ago, and set it up in an unfurnished room on our main floor where we keep a cat tower and the dog crate. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Keeps cat entertained !

Originally, I ordered the green track bc it had the larger holes for their paws. However, the item never came & they didn’t know when it would be back in stock. I still would prefer that one if I could get it. However, desperate for my bored cat to stop meowing all day/night I ordered this one. At first she seemed terrified of it, which is odd since she’s not scared of much! Then she got used to it after a day or 2. I do see what people are saying about the holes being small. Although, with my cat I don’t think it’s a matter of the hole being too small for my cats paws (she’s 1.5 years old and about 10/11 pounds). However, it did seem like her paws could possibly get stuck and there wasn’t much room to swat the ball. As others recommended , I took out one of the blue top covers and that seems to help. We haven’t had any issues with the ball coming off the track , although it could if they tried. At first it took me a while to get the hang of taking the track apart and putting it back together. However, once I figured it out it was easy. You do have to make sure everything is lined up and snapped in correctly for the ball to roll smoothly. I like how the ball rolls on its own if it’s hit hard enough. The end pieces are slightly elevated so when the ball hits the end piece it rolls back down the track. It definitely keeps her interested! I tried using a lighter ball as others mentioned but the heavier one rolls better. Overall, my cat likes it so I’m happy! . I hear her playing with it at night instead of meowing so it’s a win! My older cat who is about 8 could take it or leave it but she is like that with most toys! I also foster cats and a lot of the fosters recommend these!
