He wanted me to start off nearly horizontal, and each week, adjust the very easy Inversion Angle Knob, and each week, I increased the inversion angle, finally arriving at full inversion. Doing the process slowly, is also a great way for your ankles to get used to being held and supporting your body weight. I have read reviews of some customers complaining of the ankle system being uncomfortable ! Well, for me, by the time I progressed to full inversion, I felt like I was being very well secured, and had no discomfort. My Dr just prescribed daily to start and then weekly for L5 damage but said NEVER go past 45 degrees. My PT also told me in 2008 that decompression when upright did not work because your brain wouldn't let your muscles relax. Hey, desperate times call for desperate measures. Anyway, the product is very well made. The assembly instructions are very good (you can tell they have benefited from customer feedback on assembly challenges over the years). Assembly is best done by 2 people (to avoid lifting heavy objects by oneself!), but can be done by 1 person if needed. Once assembled, with the height adjustments made as needed, the product is easy to use. I simply use my arms, moving them from below my head to over my head, one at a time, to effect a change in inversion. I will echo comments others have made about starting slow and for very short periods of time. Invert slowly, un-invert slowly, and only invert for a few minutes as a time. Unfortunately, inversion didn't provide any noticeable, lasting relief. I believe this is because you can only safely invert for a small amount of time (5-10 mins?) before you may be doing harm to other parts of your body. The human body was not deigned to operate like a bat; it really doesn't want all of your blood pooling in your head.
