Will this work with the Subaru forester outback?

I say it probably would, it is adjustable, and if it would not work, then you can just send it back. Very good load bar. I use it in my semi truck for a hanger to hang. My clothes up works excellent for me.

Is there a place to add a lock, to lock it in place?

Great load bar for a pickup truck

This load bar works well enough that I bought another one for my truck! It’s easy to use and will hold plenty of weight from sliding in the bed of a truck! They seem to stay in place with no issue as long as you make sure to secure them tight enough. They will bend if you do not get them tightly against your load and make sure they are secure, just follow some simple common sense and you won’t have any issues
