Seamless operation
I recently got a pair of stereo headphones so that I could game at night without waking everyone in my house (I primarily use a quite powerful 2.1 stereo speaker system for sound). My USB ports don't play particularly well with USB headsets, I had a sound card, and I wanted something I could use on my phone. As a result of all three of these factors, I got a model of headphones that connected via 3.5mm audio cable, and had to be plugged in to work (not that I'm complaining). However, when they arrived, I remembered that the headphone ports on the front of my computer didn't work, and that as a desktop user, I had to slide my tower out, unplug my speakers, and plug my headphones into my sound card - which is in the back of my computer - to switch between the two. So, I looked at audio switchers. I found a few DIY solutions, but I'm not that good at electronics and the soldering thereof, so I decided to buy one instead. Most that I found were either really expensive, low-rated, had too many outputs, or some combination of the three. So, when I found this, I was happy to find a 2-output switcher, but still a bit skeptical, seeing as how there were at least a few negative reviews for seemingly every audio switcher I found. However, when I saw this was only $13, I figured it wouldn't be too much of a financial risk if it didn't work. So I bought it. When it arrived, I plugged one end of the input cable into my sound card, the other end into the input on the switcher, and plugged my headphones in one output port on the switcher and my speakers in the other. I tested it first with my speakers - my subwoofer and both satellites worked flawlessly. I then switched to my headphones, and at first, was disappointed. I could only get mono sound (both channels in the left ear) on my stereo headphones, and there was a slight crackling. I looked at the switcher, saw nothing wrong, looked at my headphones, and saw that the connection on the earcup was slightly loose. I secured the connection, and my stereo sound was back. Everything worked perfectly. I switched between the two outputs a few times to check for flimsy solder connections, but found no problems. On top of that, the switcher preserved the improved audio quality that my sound card provided. It sounded exactly as if the selected output was plugged in directly to the sound card. My one qualm with this product is that if you select an output and then drop the switcher any more than about six inches, the button for the input/output that was selected goes back up, effectively de-selecting the source. Other than that, it's perfect. If you're looking for an audio switcher that allows you to switch between two inputs or outputs, preserves high-quality audio, and adheres to your budget, then look no further.

Vulnerable to ground loop noise but there are workarounds for that
I have two of these. I used one to switch an audio signal between a pair of wireless headphones and a stereo receiver input, and it worked fine. I used the other to switch a pair of desk speakers between my computer and my wife's. At first that didn't work well at all, putting a pronounced hum onto the sound. I'd expect that pattern to hold - it may work well in some situations and not others, depending on exactly what is plugged into it. I wouldn't say this problem comes from a flaw of the switch, exactly. Any simple switch like this using 3.5 mm audio plug connections makes your system susceptible to ground loop noise, which causes the hum. In order to resolve the hum, you need to break the ground loop that is causing the noise. I was able to do this by replacing the 3.5 mm audio cable connection between my computer and the switch with a Google Chromecast audio connection. With that connection both switches are working well. This solution also has the advantage of getting rid of a slightly unsightly cable connection, and being able to cast to the speakers from my phone. Someone with this same problem could probably also solve it with an audio ground loop isolator. That might lead to degraded audio in the bass if you are connecting to high-fidelity output, but in lower-fi situations that would probably also work just fine. With the above caveat these switches are working just fine for me.

WORKS GREAT! Cheaper than "name brands"
I previously had 2 of these types of switches, both made by Plantronics, and I paid more than twice as much for them. They died after just a little over a year. I've had this one year, and it's still going strong. Will update review if something goes wrong. Things to know: *Requires male to male 3.5mm(1/8 inch) cables to plug your stuff in. These are not included. How it works: *Takes TWO 3.5mm(1/8 inch) connections and passively routes them to ONE switchable connection (AB Push Switch) *OR Takes ONE 3.5mm(1/8 inch) connection and routes it to TWO switchable connections (AB PushSwitch) If this helps you make a decision, please give a helpful rating. Thanks! ____________ UPDATE MAY 2021: This thing is still going strong at 2.5 years now! WAY outlasted those more expensive switchers. Just, as mentioned before- make sure you realize that you need your own cables for this. :-) Also- I have had NONE of the ground loop "hum" problems that some of the other reviews complain about. 20 year audio engineer here... so maybe I'm just more careful about checking WHERE the "hum" is coming from. ;-) This is JUST a SIMPLE PASSIVE SWITCH. That is all. There are NO ACTIVE ELECTRONICS, so NOTHING in this could possibly produce a hum...

Good quality audio switch
This is a very basic audio switch that is free of noise and distortion. The push button switches have a good mechanical feel and switch without creating noise. I’m using mine as one line in from a PC sound card and the output A to desk speakers and B to headphones. The device construction is solid and the 3.5 mm female connectors mate well with my male plugs. I just received this so I can’t say how well it will perform over time.

Great device! Tiny and works great
Great device! Tiny and works great. I only had two devices that needed to share one set of computer speakers so this version of the selector (they also make a four port selector) suited me fine. I was initially concerned about hiss or audio issues as some reviewers stated they were having, but nope...it is just as crystal clear as directly connected to the speakers. Great niche item!

Works fine, is really big, though.
Works fine. I have a TV headphone jack and bluetooth receiver outputting to this box, and the box to a small amp powering two speakers in my terrace. Basically, I bought this because I'm lazy and didn't want to disconnect the TV and plug it into the receiver when I just wanted to stream music from my phone and not the TV. My only complaint, as another has said, is that it seems a lot bigger than it needs to be. So far no issues, though.

Good alternative to desktop front panel jack
The desktop front panel audio jack is a convenience, as plugging in headphones or other audio devices automatically switches off the rear stereo output with no hassle. The problem though, is that the 3mm jack in said front panels tends to wear out internally with frequent use. Using this switch from the rear stereo output instead, bypasses that problem, as there's no need to ever unplug any cables, meaning that there's no wear on input and output jacks. I'd reccomend this for any application where you'd otherwise need to plug and unplug your audio cables fequently to switch inputs or outputs; as manually removing and inserting audio cables frequently will inevitably ruin pcb style audio jacks.

Not for 4 pole headphones!
This supposedly works for headphones, but will not work with a 4 pole headset - the mic is non-functional. Very disappointing.
