They have a little weight from the silicone which makes it great for preventing spills as much but all of us who have a kid know that even the best spill proof ones some how will spill anyways! Great quality, I hand wash in general. I would not put these in a dishwasher, the silicone is soft. I think you can but because it is silicone it'll wear down!
