Review: IT WORKS, especially when I suction the area as soon as I realize I've been bitten - I'm a mosquito/gnat magnet and douse myself with bug spray when I walk my dog or garden pretty much any time of day. Even so, they get me and my bites itch and swell up unattractively, so I've had plenty of opportunities to use this Bug Bite Thing--bottom line is IT WORKS!! I find it works best to minimize itching/swelling if you can suction the bite location as soon as possible after you notice that you've been bitten and identify the bite-site. I do the suctions two times for each bite-site, for a solid 20 second-count (1 missouri, 2 missouri . . .) per suction, and the majority of the time, the area is barely itchy (if at all) and doesn't swell afterwards. A few times, I've actually suctioned a tiny bit of blood at the bite-site, and felt extremely satisfied knowing that the bugger's venom must have also been extracted. Just had one of those instance on my arm tonight, and there is no itch at all at that bite-site! I do find that the tool's effectiveness can be limited if the bites are on hard-to-suction areas (like my shin/ankle bones). Or if in a hard-to-reach area (back, shoulder etc) in which case I usually ask my husband to help.
Review: I’m sorry it’s a novel but when I read reviews I need all the details. - “Skeeter Syndrome” is real. The name is wild I understand this lmao however it’s what they chose to call it when you are allergic to ANY saliva or “venom” from all the insects that come from hell every year when it’s hot, humid, and not for the weak. Mainly speaking to my folks in the south. Anywhere Texas all the way to Florida. Louisiana especially. The mosquitoes literally will pull your socks down just to bite your ankle. They’re built different and it’s the worst part about summer in general but especially when your kid is limited to outside activities bc they’re allergic to any bites. They welt up, and fyi female mosquitoes apparently are the villains here. They’re the ones who bite you without hesitation for protein and iron found in blood to develop their eggs. Such ratchet behavior. ANYWAY if you’re still with me, sorry, but thank you lol highly recommend this bc when they do bite you aren’t aware of how many times until their saliva hits your bloodstream. 12 random welts can pop up and be super inflamed and itchy and little kids just want to scratch but it can become infected if they’re not properly taken care of. You place this gadget on top of each welt, it instantly brings the saliva to the center and will ooze out. After that you apply a hydrocortisone cream or in our case, afterbite for kids, as well as soak them in an Aveeno oatmeal bath for atleast 4 nights. The entire process is painless for the kids, it also heals the bites faster and the itching subsides highly recommended bc the quicker you remove the saliva from the mosquito or any of its cousins, the less their immune system will be affected. If it’s not suctioned out it’s not only in their bloodstream but it also moves through their GI and those bathroom trips are vile depending on the amount of bites they have gotten and you might as well call out of work for 3-4 days to let it pass. You can get a topical antibiotic from the doctor but there’s no cure to skeeter syndrome, their immune systems just have to build resistance and it’s a terrible thing to have. Especially for a child. Anyway there’s my novel and I hope it helped those Mama’s out there possibly struggling with the same thing. ALSO! The absolute BEST bug spray for kids specifically that we have used, and we’ve use a lot of them, is the So Soft Bug repellent!!! I ordered it off desertcart I got the smallest one maybe $25 and it lasted 3 months! Be mindful of the weather especially morning dew and sundown. That’s when the mosquitoes are out for blood the most and remove standing water or anything like that from around wherever they may play bc that’s where they lay their eggs. Speaking from experience and it taking almost 6 years to officially find a routine and I swear by mine.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this work for chiggers?**
A: People seem to be confusing ticks and chiggers. One of the biggest myths or misconceptions about chiggers is that they can burrow under your skin and drink your blood. This leads to the common treatment for chiggers of putting clear nail polish on chigger bites to suffocate the chiggers. Since chiggers don't actually burrow under your skin, this 'treatment' is unnecessary. But chiggers don't even really bite you in the traditional sense as a mosquito does. Instead, they attach themselves to your skin, inject saliva with digestive enzymes that help to break down your skin cells, which the chigger then drinks. It is these enzymes that cause the itchy rash. So yes this will be effective for chigger bites as it will remove the enzyes.

**Q: Do you have to use right away or can you use it a day later?**
A: I used it 2 days later. Big unsightly bites. I used it a few times, partly because I was new to the product. My daughter as well. No itch. It helped 2 bites heal faster out of 3 on me.

**Q: All of the reviews mention mosquito bites, does it also work for spider bites? Also, how soon after the bite does it need to be applied?**
A: Hello David, Yes! Bug Bite Thing works great on Spider Bites, but should not be used for Brown Recluse or Black Widow bites. It also works great for Ants, Bees, Wasps, Black Flies, Fleas & other biting insects. We recommend using the suction pump as soon as you notice a bite or sting to prevent the reaction from getting worse. However, Bug Bite Thing CAN still be used days after a bite or sting. -BBT Team

**Q: How do you use this to remove a bee’s stinger please?**
A: Be careful removing the stinger and the attached venom sacs. Do not push on it(scrape) as that might inject more venom. Carefully remove stinger and then apply suction.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Surprisingly effective for mosquito bites — great for the whole family
*by R***D on August 20, 2025*

I was skeptical about the Bug Bite Thing at first, but after using it several times on fresh mosquito bites, I have to admit — it actually works. It’s a simple suction tool that pulls out irritants like saliva or venom left behind by bugs, and it really does reduce swelling and itchiness if you use it right after getting bitten. The tool is compact, easy to clean, and safe for kids and adults. It’s painless, though the suction feels a little weird at first. I’ve used it on mosquito bites and minor bee stings with noticeable relief within minutes — especially on those bites that normally swell up and itch like crazy for days. A few tips: Use it ASAP after the bite for best results. Don’t over-suction — it can leave a small red mark if you hold it too long. Doesn’t work as well on older bites or tick bites. Pros: Drug-free, chemical-free relief Works quickly when used immediately Safe for all ages Reusable and travel-friendly Cons: Requires some trial and error to use properly Not effective on all types of bites (e.g., spider or old bites) Can leave temporary redness if overused Overall, this is a great tool to have on hand, especially if you’re outdoors a lot or have kids who attract every mosquito in a 10-mile radius. It’s not a miracle cure, but it really helps take the edge off bites without the need for creams or meds. 👍 If this review helped, feel free to click “Helpful” — I always appreciate it!
