An uplifting story on sustainability, in response to many 'heavy' green titles coming to the market that children often find intimidating. Omar, The Bees and Me encourages children to look after nature in local communities planting wild flowers to form bee corridors. Themes around cultural identity are also explored through Omar (a new boy from Syria) and Maisie's friendship. Offers an insight into international beekeeping and illustrated by award-winning picture-book maker Katie Cottle, creator of The Green Giant and The Blue Giant. Includes bee facts on endpapers and a recipe for honey cake on end page. Review: Lovely book - I brought this book for new parents-to-be to help expand their library collection. The book has such a lovely story, with great illustrations and even a recipe at the end! Overall great purchase Review: The perfect grandparent reading time with grandchildren - Purchased for reading time with my Grandson. A wonderful book of community spirit! A must read for both grandparents and children

Beautiful story about sustainability, friendship and community
This story ticks many boxes for me, it is a beautiful story about sustainability, friendship, and community. I enjoyed the diversity of family groups and people represented in the book, how the story is told by the child and the colourful illustrations. The illustrations are also warm, charming, detailed in places, and enjoyable. My eldest grandchild has chosen this book twice from many, enjoying the nature aspect and how Omar and Maisie’s friendship develops. We are looking forward to making the honey cake recipe at the back of the book. A good quality book with thick and durable pages. Would have been my first 5 star book, unfortunately a star was lost for not being FSC certified, and although I love the recipe at the back of the book and how these activities help bring stories alive, the activity is not suitable for all i.e vegans. There are some activity sheets on the Owlet Press website that accompany the book. 25/7/21 My grandchild, who is nearly four awards this beautiful book 500 stars, it is his favourite book :)

A wonderful book that provides you and your child with fantastic conversation talking points
Omar, The Bees and Me is a beautiful story that ticked so many boxes, from the core story to the lessons and then the illustrations, it’s a book that provides you and your child with wonderful conversation talking points. Within the book we have the base story which focuses on protecting and nurturing bees, in an uplifting and approachable way. However the book offers a wonderful outlook on sustainability, friendship, and community spirit, as well as themes surrounding cultural identity and diversity. The illustrations were charming to view and gave an added depth to the book that gave it a warmth that matched its wonderful tone.
