Review: Four Stars - One of the few places I can find replacements for my Taylor pool test kit - thanks!
Review: Why fret over the cost of test chemicals? - I use the K-2006 Taylor test kit. I have had excellent results using this test kit. If I take a sample to the pool store with their computer driven testing machine, the results of the tests will essentially be the same. I test once a day, so I go through about two containers of the powder per pool season. So, if the expiration date is 3-6 months out, that's fine. It will be gone by then. Why use two scoops? Because Taylor says that's what to use. Any water sample with free chlorine in it will turn pink with the first scoop. The test is based on using two scoops. Not 1 or 3. The reaction kinetics will be different depending on how much powder you put in. If you put in one scoop, the water will clear that much quicker when titrating. Fewer drops will mean lower level of FC. So, now you will be chlorinating your pool based on erroneous information. You have more chlorine than you think you have so you will be over-chlorinating if you go with the one scoop approach. Taylor is the industry gold standard for testing reagents and test procedures. Do what they say. I spend $500 to $800 a year of pool chemicals. The testing reagents are chump change in pool land. Follow Taylor's instructions. They know what they are doing. I have noticed the powder will turn gray as it gets older. It is taking on moisture and accuracy will suffer. Buy the 10gram container as you need it and use as fresh a test reagent as possible. Worry about how much you are spending on chlorine. Your time and energy is better spent there.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: My dpd powder looks crystalized. Bought it last year and just opened it. Is it bad?**
A: This reagent is one of those with a shorter shelf life in the Taylor catalog. There should be an expiration date printed on the bottle. It may still be good, but proceed with care if it is over a year old. According to Taylor, with respect to the R-0870 reagent, this may help you identify if the reagent has become compromised and should be discarded: "As it degrades, the color will turn from an off-white color to gray or purplish gray and will gradually become a purplish brown color." As a general precaution, Taylor recommends replacing all reagents more than one year old.

**Q: what is the expiration date**
A: The seller on mine was EZ Test Pool Supplies and the expiration Date is 08/22

**Q: Is there any way to know the expiration date of the current product? Some seller sent me product expired last year?**
A: All product is 1 or 2 years for expiration. Ask the seller to send a newer one.

**Q: What is the difference between R-0870 and R-0870-l ?**
A: R-0870 is the number of the reagent. The additional suffix such as -I or -J indicates the size. R-0870-I is 10 grams. R-0870-J is the same reagent in 0.25 lb size.

### ⭐⭐⭐ Product expires soon
*by M***E on 13 January 2023*

Been using this product for a while and it works well, but this order shows up and the product expires in less than 6 months. Should give you at least a years use or more . No good .
