I hear horror stories of bad patches and terrible vulcanizing compound from other brands. In my experience these are the most reliable patches and the compound never dries up in the sealed tube. I think they should include more patches but the quality is what you pay for when you get a flat miles from home in the rain. 1. Find the puncture and spread compound evenly in an area larger than the patch. Wait for the compound to dry out a bit before applying the patch. 2. Remove the plastic protective film and firmly press patch (With black dot facing you) into the compound you just applied. 3. Continue to push the patch into the tube for a few minutes. 4. Put a slight amount of air in the tube and remount in the tire. 5. Carefully remount the tire to the rim without allowing the tube to get pinched between the tire and rim. 6. Fill tire after mounting the wheel to the bike and continue the trip. Instruction given to me by a bike mechanic in Astoria, Oregon with decades of experience in the craft. Curious how well they might work for the cause.** A: It probably won't work well on an air mattress since air mattresses are usually made from vinyl. This is specifically made for tire tubes which are made from Butyl. The vulcanizing adhesive bonds with butyl but won't bond properly with vinyl. **Q: How many patches are in the kit?** A: There are two 1 3/8" x 1" rectangular patches, two 6/8" diameter round patches, & two 1" round patches in each kit. There is also a VERY coarse rectangle of sandpaper, and a tiny tube with enough self-vulcanising fluid to use all the patches and then some. The top of the box has the directions for use. Quite a very complete kit! **Q: What does 2pack mean** A: Just that - you get two packs. Each pack is a small blue box, about two inches long, with one tube of vulcanising liquid and six patches. **Q: Work on snow tubes?** A: Sorry I don't know if it'll work on snow tubes.
