## Description

Product Description Adding satellite radio? Direct connection to your radio eliminates the need to find an open or unused FM channel. The SiriusXM Wired FM Direct Adapter Kit provides a static-free audio connection for XM and SiriusXM dock and play portable radios hardwired directly into your vehicle's car stereo. Works with PowerConnect radios and vehicle kits. desertcart.com Tired of relying on your FM transmitter to send your Sirius satellite radio signal to your car stereo? Turn instead to this wired FM adapter, which provides a direct connection to produce a crisper overall sound. Unlike FM transmitters--which often suffer from static and interference, as with traditional FM stations--the FM adapter plugs directly into the rear of your factory or after-market stereo, thus requiring a bit of installation expertise. But once connected, you can tune to your favorite Sirius channels in seconds without searching for unused FM frequencies. More importantly, the signal will be clean and uninterrupted, with no pops or fizzes as you drive from one part of the city to another. The FM adapter, which works with all Sirius plug 'n' play and personal radios, includes plugs and wires for most installations, although antenna adapters may be required for select car stereos. It's also backed by a one-year warranty. What's in the Box Direct FM adapter, plugs and wires, user's manual.

Review: It works great, once I figured out how it really works. - I bought this because I have my Siruis hooked up to my motorcycle and I do a LOT of riding. I am the type of rider who takes off not knowing where I am going, only when I need to be home, I am constantly in search of that road I have never been down so I never know where I will end up, and it was a real pain trying to find clear stations that would last for a few hundred miles, let alone the whole day. I thought I would give this a try and installed it before a run to DC and I was very disappointed it did not work. I have been working with, and hooking up electronics for over 40 years, so I checked and rechecked ever thing I could think of, and the only thing I could not check was the plug in the cradle that the receiver was in so I put the bike back together and saved it for another time, when I had more time and a different cradle. Well that time came about a month later. I hooked up the new cradle, all the wires turned the FM transmitter off in the receiver and NOTHING..no music just static and a big sad face, checked all my connections again and they were good, but I still had nothing.. I just didn't get it, from what I understood, once this was hooked up it would broadcast the music on all channels, why wasn't it working??? so disappointed started to take it apart again, then a little light bulb clicked that said "try this", so I went to the known station in my area that has full power and a good clean signal 93.7, I went back into the menu on the Siruis receiver and turned the FM transmitter ON again and set the transmitter station to 93.7. With the radio playing some forgotten song( it was actually playing golden earing's radar love) I powered up the Sirius unit and Viola!! music!! right from the receiver and no more golden earing. I then re-hooked up the original cradle that is mounted to the bike and viola, music! Big smiles came after that, it works, and it works great.. So, if you are under the impression that I was, that this unit works across the whole frequency band. it does not. what it does do, is put a good clean signal to the frequency you choose in the receiver setup. I have now set mine to my favorite local radio stations frequency, so when I want to listen to the local station I simply turn off my Sirius unit and listen, no more having to change the station, and that is really handy or if I want to listen to satellite, i just power it on and it overpowers all stations broadcasting on that frequency, and gives you a good, clean sound... I now really like this unit, and it is well worth getting, you will not be disappointed once it is correctly set up.
Review: Works well, cheaper elsewhere - This is an excellent product. I installed Sirius Starmate 5 SIRIUS ST5TK1 Satelite Radio Receiver into my 2007 Toyota Tacoma. Initially I used the included FM antenna to try and "beam" the signal from the unit to my vehicle FM antenna and then play through my factory head unit. It had so much static it was unusable. This wired relay plugged directly into the back of the Toyota Factory radio antenna port, and then existing antenna plugged perfectly into the relay. One other wire goes to your Starmate cradle, and that's it. No adapters were required. Sound is now crystal clear without any static or interruptions. There are no other inputs into this device, so if you want to hook up an iPod as well and play through your factory radio, you will not want this device. For the Tacoma, a company called USA Spec makes a nice adapter that functions like this device but also allows an input for an iPod. I did not want to hook an iPod in so this was not a concern for me, but its a note for everyone else as I imagine its a concern for most people. The relay requires no external power and comes with plenty of cord length to enable you to find a suitable mounting location under the dash that will keep it hidden. The only thing that brought down my opinion is that I found this device for the same price at Radio Shack, but only after I had bought it through desertcart. Could have saved the shipping costs by just getting it from Radio Shack. Would have hoped that the price would be slightly cheaper on here.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: does this product eliminatate having to change FM freq. everytime I drive into a different area and will this work on onyx radio**
A: If your radio base has a FM plug in the back it will work. I think if the radio puts out at 98.1 and your radio is tuned to it, you should never have to change it.

**Q: Where does the 3.5mm plug go onto the radio dock? Into the FM out or Audio out?**
A: It goes into the Fm out. Thus will not replace the xm antenna either. You will still need to use the antenna provided. This device will only make he xm come over the radio. The audio out would work if you had a aux in on your head unit.

**Q: Is this a standard modulator, i.e. can I use it with my phone as well, or does it have some proprietary Sirius stuff that would prevent me from that?**
A: I tried plugging a standard sized (being 3.5 mm) headphone plug into the back of the Sirius XM device I have, and I'm pretty sure that the fm Jack is at a slightly different size then a regular 3.5 mm headphone jack. Plus, your talking about plugging your phone directly into the RF jack of the back of a radio without anything inbetween except this device, I'm pretty positive that you can't hook this directly up to the back of your radio and your phone, and expect it to work on the hardware level. I mean, on my Sirius XM device, it has a setting that you need to go into to select a frequency that it's going to broadcast on for the radio, so, I suspect that it won't work with your phone. So, yes, I'm pretty sure it's proprietary to the Sirius XM device.

**Q: Do I need a separate antenna for the sirius radio if I use this?**
A: Like peter mentions, if you want to be able to pick up the Sirius XM satellite with this device, you'll have to use a separate antenna for the Sirius XM dongle.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for installing XM in a Tesla Model Y
*by J***. on January 6, 2024*

I used this adapter to install a Sirius XM Roady in a Tesla Model Y and it worked great. I was able to mount the Roady in the center console under the sliding door to make it easy to access for changing channels. When the Roady is powered on there is no bleed from the FM channels and when the Roady is powered off the FM radio works as expected. The FM receiver for the model Y is at the rear of the vehicle on the rear lift gate next to the backup camera so it takes some effort to route the cables for the XM antenna and adapter. If you are looking to do this then these are the parts I used for a successful install: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075SSKCDY?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C4T1GK5X?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08FR6PTMY?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I needed 3 of the audio cables connected together to reach the back of the car (18 feet) so I purchased 2 of the 2-packs and had 1 extra when done. I used the 12V outlet in the center console for power.
