My older Laserjet 4000 had a little trouble seeing them, but I kept removing and reseating each chip (making sure the printer was OFF when working with the DIMMs) until the printer recognized each module. NOTE: the more RAM the printer has, the longer the power-on self-test, so the longer you'll see a line of asterisks on the display while the printer is booting.
