So we're all looking for project to do while we're in duck and cover mode. I wanted to run some cat 6 cable as a back channel for my wireless mesh network whatever doohickey. As a completely unqualified amateur I was exceedingly nervous about locating a pass-through between my main level and the basement. I measured eleventy-seven times and took a shot. Once I got the drywall cut out I still couldn't see anything due to insulation. However I managed to jam this here fish tape up through the basement. IT WORKED! Then without really knowing what I was doing, I managed to pull through my Cat 6 STP 24 awg solid copper wire through using copious amounts of tape. I won't say it was easy, but it got the job done. I'm sure there are better tools out there for the professionals, but this worked well for me. It wound and unwound cleanly as easily. I'm not sure what else you'd want to know. As an idiot from a long line of idiots, I had success with this tool without even reading the instructions. Imagine what a smart DIYer such as yourself cold do if you even skim the manual?

Only an amateur so could not justify the cost of a fancy Klein. Anyways used it to pull 115 feet of mule tape and used the mule tape to pull 100 feet of red and black 10 gauge copper wire for above head conduit for my solar panels to solar battery. Wanted to protect the insulation from rat teeth so used 3/4 uv pvc conduit. Supported every three feet as per electrical code (did not buy code book) looked it up online.

I had to run 12 gauge wire under my driveway for landscape lighting. The run was approx 65 feet and had one 90 degree elbow. This fish tape had huge problems getting through the 90 degree elbow. The pvc pipe was 2 inch diameter. The elbow was aprox 3 feet from the end of the run. I tried going in both ends but still could not get it through the elbow. I ended up cutting the hook end of the fish tape, still no luck. I eventually ended up pulling up the pipe (portion not under concrete) to get to the elbow. After that I was good to go. Bottom line is that this tape is very rigid and not flexible enough to get through an empty 90 degree turn on 2 inch pvc pipe. I would hate to have tried in a even smaller pipe or one that all ready has wire running through it. But for less then 25 dollars it was worth it getting the rest of the 60 foot plus wire under concrete. The device was straight forward and simple to remove and retrieve tape.

Good price, did what it says, has oil on it i guess to prevent rust. Only wish it had something to lock it in place so it would not uncoil. I tied or tapes it down so it won’t unwind.
