Despite multiple tests, adjusting settings, and carefully following the instructions, the results were underwhelming. The tool doesn’t fit smoothly into Clamp B on my Cricut Maker 3 and requires significant force to close. I’m not sure if it’s defective or just poorly designed, but I’m not willing to risk damaging my machine by continuing to use it. Even when it works, it’s very hit-or-miss and wastes a lot of material just to get an acceptable result. And to add to all of that, when it works the transferred foil does not adhere nicely to the paper and it will wash away very quickly. I really wanted this tool to work, but it’s not worth the hassle, frustration, or cost. Turn dial to Custom and follow prompts in Design Space. **Q: Will foils adhere to glasses or mugs?** A: No it will not. Vinyl or infusible ink are what is used for glasses or mugs. With the foil transfer tool you can use it to embellish cards or other paperstock. Also can be transferred to make leather earrings for example. The transfer tool actually transfers the foil to your flat project with the Cricut machine **Q: Can these tips be used to transfer foil by hand, without a machine?** A: Kind of nope. I just tried it out for you because I had scraps. The foil transfers, but it only impressed about 25-35% of each letter or shape. You need very hard, even pressure that only the machine can provide (and doesn't even do very well at that, if you ask me.
