The metric set is $70, the sae is $55..... compareable would be capri or tekton at $130 and $100 which is a bit "nicer" but going that route and will only gain a slightly smoother finish and larger font laser etching , the warranty services are similar, tekton gets a slight edge, capri is hardest to deal with, sunex is pretty darn good and carried at most all majpr retailers, distributors and or tool trucks. DIY users or mobile mechanics will love the metal hinge and latch case , its blow molded like every other brand but this one is pretty heavy duty and if I was not holding all my sockets on rails in my tool carts I'd definitely use this case, i like that it holds the sockets upright which cuts down on the bulk and width of the case vs if they were held horizontally.

Sunex makes really really good tools, they’re strong and durable, the socket walls are thinner than most, they work great for being a diesel tech, worth the money over tool trucks prices

Was looking for a good set of 1/2" impacts for working on my truck. A BIG plus is it goes up to 36mm, which you need for the hub nuts on Chevy Trucks. I usually go for Craftsman, but at $105 for a 24 piece + another $37.99 for just the 36mm impact socket itself was too much, and Harbor Freight is a bit of a drive for me, so thought I'd give this brand (Sunex) a try, glad I did I've used them a lot over the past couple months and they are holding up well. Case is a bonus, nice metal buckles. These work great for the 18volt Lithium impact guns (Ryobi). Find myself reaching for them more often than using the ol' 1/2 manual drive ratchet. I even used a few of them on pressing bushings with a heavy duty hand press, held their ground, the melted rubber from one of the bushings stuck to them pretty bad, had to scrap it off. Will oil them next time I try that.

The sockets seem nice and well made. They’re fairly uniform in terms of the broach and the finish and bevels. They come in a little bit cheaper than Tekton and other comparable sets but with a more comprehensive set which was the considering factor for me, as well as a supposedly nice warranty. The set skips 31. Competition sets are of similar value are made in Taiwan tho and these are now made in China. There’s been upgrades since the move including beveled drives and roll stamped identification to go with the laser etching. I do wonder about the orientation of the 1/2” square drive in terms of how its corners align with the corners of the hex pattern of the socket leaving what would seem like a weak point due to thinner steel there on some pieces. This is something that seems inevitable in terms of manufacturing and maybe I’m just imagining a problem but it’s seems less prevalent on other socket sets I own. The case has changed from the pictures as well. The orientation of the sockets are laying flat rather the pictured vertical orientation, this means the case is much bigger in all 3 dimensions to the point I couldn’t store them in the case, in my top toolbox drawers and had to take them out of the case. The case also has plastic locks now rather then the metal ones. The hinges are plastic as well except for a metal bar that holds the two parts of the hinge together.

I originally bought these to replace my socket set that was stolen when they broke into the shop. I needed something quick and cheap to get me back going. I've put these thru alot and have held up. I work on heavy equipment and they take a beating. Great product. And I have paired them with a sunex 1/2 impact gun. I goes up against the milwaukee and the mac tools and the matco tools.

This set is pretty awesome. I’m starting as a automotive mechanic and wanted a complete set of impact sockets. I didn’t want to have 3-4 sets just to have the various sizes this one has. I’ve used it a bunch already and the sockets seem to be holding up just fine. Saw some reviews about receiving same sizes and stamped wrong but I measured all the sockets upon arrival and they were all correct. The sockets came oiled. The only downside to this set is it doesn’t come with a handle or size 31mm. The case is sturdy so I might make my own. A set like this from dewalt is $218 cad. I’ve suggested this set to a few other of my fellow mechanics and they agreed it’s a great deal. The exact same set but deep sockets was a little bit more expensive at $250. Was very hesitant about buying both for $400 but I will be using these both everyday for a long time. The deep sockets set does come with a handle and the case is much bigger. Also is missing size 31mm. They also don’t seem to be rounding bolt heads or fasteners. Great bang for your buck!
