I envisioned finding a blank book as a Christmas gift for my 7yo nephew who loves writing stories and drawing. Other offerings were rather expensive, had a soft cover or forced you to buy several blank books at one time. Since this was only an add-on gift for several other gifts, I needed something a bit less expensive. I didn't spend a lot of time really inspecting it for quality but it did not immediately appear like junk. It seemed nice, had a good amount of blank pages. The cover was nice and flat and not warped. The size of the book is also very nice size and not small at all. This was one of his Christmas gifts he couldn't wait to start using and started drawing in it right away. I had intended for him to first envision a story and draft it up and then transfer the final product along with illustrations into this book, but he had already begun drawing random things in it before we realized what he was doing. I would suggest that you put it up right away and talk with a younger child about how its intended to be used for writing a full story or collection of stories as a final product.
