The two CDs on The Greatest Hits track Houston's rise from mid-'80s Top 40 balladeer to standard-setting diva. Disc 1, Cool Down , runs chronologically through Houston's down-tempo love songs, from "The Greatest Love of All" and "I Will Always Love You" to the cleverly conceived new duet with Deborah Cox, "Same Script, Different Cast." She's also showcased as the remixee of choice for DJs on the second disc, Throw Down , which serves as the antidote to the lovesick first disc. Calling in marquee mixmasters, Houston's old-shoe tunes get a new millennium polish. "My Love Is Your Love," reinterpreted by Jonathan Peters, captures the versatility of Houston's songs by making the downbeats danceable without going totally Euro-cheese. In contrast, Junior Vasquez 's remix of 1985's "How Will I Know" pokes fun at the song's '80s fluffiness by layering in bells, lasers effects, and echoes on top of Whitney's enthusiastic vocals. --Heidi Sherman Much more than that, actually-all her #1 hits are here ( Greatest Love of All; I Will Always Love You; All the Man That I Need; Didn't We Almost Have It All , etc.), but so are her hottest remixes ( I Wanna Dance with Somebody; So Emotional; I'm Your Baby Tonight; I'm Every Woman , and more), previously unissued rarities, fan favorites and four brand-new tracks-37 of Whitney's best on 2 cassettes! Review: Enjoyed listening to and singing along with Whitney. - Best CD to listen to. Whitney had the most amazing singing voice. Review: Didn't We Almost Have it ALL?!? - In the golden-age of quality music, that was the 1980s',we essentially had it ALL insofar as good,heart-rending,thought-provoking music thanks to Lady Whitney!! So much of my past involved this gifted ladies beautiful ballads, that its absolutely astonishing!! Her music served as a theme song for important junctures in my life. "The Greatest Love"was my 5th grade graduation theme,I endured my greatest heartbreak listening to"All At Once"where Whitneys emphatic vocals seemed to let me know,I wasn't ALONE in this hellish state,as I could definitely relate to:"All at once,I finally took a moment, and I'm realizing that, you're NOT coming BACK,and it finally hit me;ALL at once!! All at once,I started counting teardrops, and at LEAST a million fell;my eyes began to swell, and all my dreams were SHATTERED,all at once!!" "One Moment In Time"catapulted me into"the real world"as my high-school graduation theme. After decades,"Didn't We Almost Have It All"remains one of my ALL-time favorite songs, and even more,Whitney teams with Deborah Coxs phenomenal vocals on the great:"Same Script/Different Cast"as the two greatest vocalist of an era compare notes on a knavish lover and his nadir conduct!! I just love the segment where Deborah UNwilling to face the truth about the man she's fallen for, shuts her eyes, puts her hands over her ears, and drowns Whitneys cautions out with a loud,grade-schoolish:"La,la,la,la,la,la,la,la,la,laaaa....."which is essentially what one does when blinded by the charms of the"smooth operator". The crowning moment of Whitneys illustrious career is recorded here with the absolute BEST rendition of the"Star Spangled Banner"at Superbowl 25,which actually brought me to tears, thinking that she's forever gone!! This disc is a wonderful way to re-live the immeasurable impact this special lady forever left on the music industry!! ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B00004R84V | | Best Sellers Rank | #1,512 in CDs & Vinyl ( See Top 100 in CDs & Vinyl ) #11 in Contemporary R&B (CDs & Vinyl) #28 in Soul (CDs & Vinyl) #30 in Adult Contemporary (CDs & Vinyl) | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars (3,218) | | Date First Available | December 7, 2006 | | Item model number | 2018508 | | Label | Sony Legacy | | Language | English | | Manufacturer | Sony Legacy | | Number of discs | 2 | | Original Release Date | 2000 | | Product Dimensions | 4.97 x 5.63 x 1.74 inches; 3.84 ounces | | Run time | 2 hours and 47 minutes | | SPARS Code | DDD | ## Images ![Whitney Houston - The Greatest Hits - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71n6Q98+7jL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Enjoyed listening to and singing along with Whitney. *by S***E on June 14, 2026* Best CD to listen to.
