## Description

The Strypes is 4-piece rock rhythm and blues band hailing from Cavan, Ireland, formed in 2011 by Ross Farrelly (lead vocals/harmonica), Josh McClorey (lead guitar/vocals), Pete O'Hanlon (bass guitar/harmonica) and Evan Walsh (drums). The group has spent the past 18 months launching their explosive assault on the clubs and festivals of Ireland, the UK and Europe, viciously hammering out a no-nonsense blues repertoire drawing from the songbooks of Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter, Slim Harpo and more with the passion and venom of British blues groups such as Dr. Feelgood, The Yardbirds, The Rolling Stones and The Animals. Having already been met with critical acclaim from greats such as Jeff Beck, Elton John, Dave Grohl and Paul Weller and been tipped by NME as the No. 1 new band to watch, it seems things can only get better for The Strypes. The US version of their debut LP Snapshot includes a never-before released track "I Don't Want To Know", produced by legendary guitarist and songwriter Paul Weller.

The Strypes - Rock 'n' Roll

*by D***R on March 25, 2014*

If rock 'n' roll doesn't die, you can thank this band. They remind me of The Who, The Stones and countless other bands, but they sound like none of them. They sound like the Strypes. It's their energy, their riffs and the belief that great rock 'n' roll can save your soul. They clearly have a deep understanding of what makes a great song and they're a tight band. I'm sure they don't want the responsibility of being the future of rock 'n' roll, but I believe they're the breath of fresh air rock music needs. And they're sure to inspire other kids to pick up a guitar, bash some drums and make some noise. Stellar. Fun. Great debut.

    WOW!!!

Saw these guys on Letterman this Tuesday... wasn't expecting much, but man did they wake me up! Plus you could tell Dave and Paul loved them! Hard to get back to sleep after that sizzling performance. It's really encouraging to hear such great rock and roll from these young ones from across the pond! I've liked everything I've heard so far and it's awesome that they also released on vinyl... analog is the best way to hear this type of music. While their style draws from a number of 60's bands, it's obvious they get most of their material from the mid 70's pub rockers, Dr. Feelgood in particular (several of the songs on this album are ones Feelgood also covered).I'm glad they're so young because that means we've got decades of great tuneage to look forward to after this most excellent freshman effort. Stay focused on the music fellows and don't let the stars get in your eyes... plus, sign up Dave Edmunds to produce your sophomore album, you'd make a great team!

    Incredible!!

Fasten your seat belts if this is you're first exposure to The Strypes.Good Lord! Rock the hard way! Very alive, to say the least. Gives me hope for this younger generation . . . these guys are definitely NOT letting the heart of rock and roll stop beating. This is the real thing -- the big dirty rat of rock is alive. Their drummer is a maniac. Their lead guitar is a maniac -- but in a good way. Their vocalist is gettin' it right. It's a little scary what these guys are going to come up with in the years to come . . . BUT I'm very, very interested in seein' what exactly it will be. One little thing . . . I wish they'd give us poor mortals a couple of extra seconds between songs -- to recover a bit. But maybe that's just my old age talkin'. At the end of this CD I am exhausted. Raw energy, real rock, who could ask for more?
