Davines This Is A Curl Building Serum

I absolutely love this product. My 2b/2c hair is halfway down my back, medium density and normal porosity. I started transitioning to silver from brunette and this really helps to manage the different textures throughout my hair from the natural gray, and the highlights/balayage I've had done to help blend it all together. I usually brush style it on wash day, but even if I don't have time, I can just rake and shake, and this will still form my beautiful waves. It works great if I air dry or diffuse, lasts for at least 3 days, and most importantly as it's summer here in TX, this stuff does not wash out when I go swimming! I just scrunch my hair a bit and go about my day and my waves return as soon as my hair dries. I'm so happy I found this product early in my journey to return to my natural wavy hair because a lot of products don't hold the shape for more than 1 day. This stuff lasts and as my hair grows longer the added weight hasn't had an effect on how well this works to keep my hair soft, shiny, and manageable. The scent is definitely more natural than most hair products, but I like that. It isn't overpowering and fades once my hair is dry so I can add my own perfume if I wish. Overall, this stuff is a 10/10. Now I just need to find replacements for the rest of the Davines line I was using as they discontinued most of the original Love Curl line, just as my bottles were about to be empty. It will be a learning experience for sure, but for now I have the serum, mousse, and just enough of the Curl Primer Spray to get me thru until I can figure out what to use in its place. The products are not drugstore prices which does make experimenting a little more risky - especially since I recently learned Amazon no longer accepts returns from Davines, but once you find what works for you a little really does go a long, long way.

This has worked as a great curly hair product for short curly hair. It doesn't leave a crusty hard feeling after it dries. It is easy to use, great value for the quantity you get and leaves my hair feeling stylable even after it dries.

I'm a Davines girl. Love their products. I'm Asian and have wavy hair, so I use this serum after I shower and when my hair has dried a bit, but still a little moist, I use the serum to scrunch my waves and it holds alll day. It gives me the beachy hair waves that I like. I have tried all types of wavy hair products and this one hits the spot. It's a little expensive but I think it's worth it because it doesn't leave a gel like or hard feeling. And the scent isn't too strong. If it works for an Asian girl, it should definitely work for all types of hair.

It is called a curl building serum and I use it to make my hair straighter. Not sure how that works but it does. If I want curls more defined I just apply it and scrunch it and let it air dry. I always want my hair as straight as I can get it so I just apply this, smooth it down with my hands, and let it dry. Note: I'm not saying it straightens my hair, but it does make it straightER than if I didn't use it and deals with frizz OK. It also dries clean without feeling heavy or greasy. By contrast, I have the Davines relaxing moisturising fluid which does feel a little heavier, a tad greasy, and doesn't relax my hair quite as well. Go figure. In both cases, I get better results if I do a tiny bit of Aveda style prep smoother which repels humidity, and apply that beforehand. I'm male, medium length (to base of my neck), curls. This product works well enough that I do not want to be without it and I've gone through a LOT of products in my life trying to get a decent result. It works for me with just a small dab of product, about the size of a dime.

Update: I originally thought this serum was too heavy and crunchy for my low/medium porosity 2c waves, but after some experimentation, I like it for diffusing days. If I used heat tools more often or had higher porosity hair, it might suit better. - Pros: concentrated, medium hold, shine, softens, smooths, best used with diffuser or blow outs - Cons: tricky to layer, no moisture, but it will weigh down hair if too much is used; , fragrance is similar to Gain detergent, but it dissipates quickly, not for air drying or day 2-3 unless using a heat to refresh - Tips: clarify with a good shampoo like Malibu undo goo 1x/month and a cleansing lathering option at least every 10 days like Kinky Curly Come Clean, use a silicone and protein-free leave-in like Kinky Curly or Curlsmith Air Dry then apply a 1/2 pea-sized drop of the serum on sections of very damp hair, brush to distribute, style hair and diffuse or do a blowout. Finish with a tiny drop of OIl. I mix a drop of Innersense Curl Cream to the leave-in at for extra moisture. The heat seems to activate the serum. Without heat my hair , hair was gummy within a few hours. -Bottom line: recommended for low to medium porosity waves for a medium hold.I probably won’t repurchase. Color Wow’s blow dry serum works better with fewer drawbacks on heat tool days in my experience.

Legitimately, this is the only curl product I'll ever use again. It is so perfect; lightweight, smells great, easy to apply, and brings beautiful shape and volume to my hair. I used it when my hair was down to my waist, I use it now for my mullet. This bottle would last me about 6 months when my hair was long, and I've been coasting on my last one for well over a year with my hair short. You need way less than you think, so is ABSOLUTELY worth the price.

I was introduced to this product about 15 years ago by a hairdresser who used to cut my hair. My hair has always been curly, and was mid length then, and it really enhanced the curliness. Now, my hair is short, and much thinner than it was then, so the curls are no longer an issue. I decided to keep using this product and what it does now is add volume to my still somewhat wavy hair! I have found no other product that can do this as well as Davines! I let it dry in my hair, and then brush it out so that my hair looks much thicker than I know it is! Really a great product!!

I have been using this for about 5 years now. My hair lady introduced me to this brand and I love that I can find it on Amazon for quick shipping. I’ve tried many different products but by far have loved this one the most. It keeps my hair from frizzing out on all seasons but doesn’t leave the crunch or gross feeling. It may be a small bottle but still last me 2-3 months. I use it everyday I only use a pea size amount on non wash days to help set some of the bed frizz down but even on a wash day I use no more than a quarter size along with some leave in conditioner and I have springy banana curls and it holds well.

Fabulous product. Leaves your hair with beautiful soft curls but no obvious use of product. Everything about it is eco friendly.
