Put it in the bottom of the canister filter and I bought a medium foam pad at pet store and trimmed to fit. Followed up by one of the fine white poly pads. They seem solid enough to rinse out multiple times so you don't throw away your cycle. Review: The blue sponge is good but if it was slightly more thicker it would have been perfect.
