Splendid Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer with Probe
For quite some time, I've had an Oregon Scientific Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer with Probe in my bathroom, but recently it had started giving me inaccurate outdoor readings despite my having installed new batteries. So I had a look to see what Amazon was offering and found this Taylor unit, which seemed to fit my needs. Taylor has been making thermometers for years, of course, and clearly knows exactly what folks want from an indoor/outdoor LCD-display unit like this: * Large indoor or outdoor temperature display. You can select whether you want indoor or outdoor temperature to appear large. The other reading will appear in a smaller window below. * Highest and lowest outdoor temperatures always on display. No having to push buttons to see these secondary readings. * Fahrenheit or Celsius readings selectable with the push of a button. * Temperature trend indicator. * Ice indicator (when outdoor temperatures fall between 26.6 and 33.8 degrees F). * Clock display (which you can select in place of temperature max and min, if you prefer. I don't!) * Folding stand lets you place the unit on a counter -- or you can hang it on the wall. Really the only feature I'm not sure about is the type of battery used: one of those button lithium batteries. Aren't these usually more expensive than AA or AAA batteries? And I wonder how long the single button battery will power the unit. We'll see... Overall, though, I like this thermometer a lot and trust it will give me accurate readings for years to come...

Great Value Thermometer
Bought this one to replace the one I had for 5+ years only because some one ripped the wire out of it. This is a very well made thermometer. Easy to change the battery for it when need to. Size is very practical you can put it anywhere and it will hang up also. Great value for the money will last a long time. Very easy to read the numbers on it they are very dark. Very easy to change settings on it.

Love this thermometer. Beware the batteries!
This is my third review of this thermometer. First one was five stars because the thermometer did it's job perfectly; it was easy to read, small enough to have a privileged spot at the edge of our kitchen countertop, and worked flawlessly. We found ourselves looking at it throughout the day, so when it became fickle and required frequent changing of the channel or reinstalling the batteries it was bothersome and disappointing. I checked the batteries with a battery tester (purchased on Amazon) and it showed they were fine. Then came the second review that the device was great when it worked but a disappointment when it wasn't. Finally I had an inspiration to replace the batteries of the sending unit and the base as soon as it started getting tempermental and that worked and the thermometer is running flawlessly again. Lesson learned: even if the batteries test OK and work fine in a flashlight they have lost enough power to make the device tempermental. Replace batteries frequently and save the old batteries for use in a remote or penlight until they are completely dead.

Works great
This is a great little thermometer~ accurate and easy to read (the temp. numbers are larger than many of the competitors, which is what I wanted). I think the humidity feature is a great add. I looked at "Weather Stations" but they were much more expensive, and I decided I really didn't need the extras. I am happy with this; and well worth the money, I think. My ONLY issue is that it doesn't light up for nighttime readings (and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars). Have only had it a few weeks so I can't speak to its durability, but I see no reason that I won't have this for years~ unless I decide I must have the glowing screen type so I can see it at night.

super accurate, impressive
I compared the Taylor thermometer to an industrial grade Fluke 52-II thermometer with a K type thermocouple. I taped both sensors together so they would read the same temperature. They were pushed through a hole in a kitchen bay window to measure the outside air temperature. They were set to the same depth under the window's bottom shelf. As show in the photo, the Taylor and Fluke both read the same temp (27.6F and 27.7F respectively), and yes, it's a cold December 29, 2021. The Taylor uses a CR2025 battery typically used in key fobs, they are readily available at various retailers, drugstores, etc. The big LCD display is easily read from a distance of up to 20 feet depending on room lighting. The display's contrast is not adjustable. I measured the Taylor's update time at 28 seconds. All things considered, this thermometer is very good for my application in terms of accuracy, readability, price point, etc...highly recommended. Update: I tested the thermometer inside my upright freezer which recently needed repairs (fan stopped) and it accurately read the low temperature at 5.1F. I have since decided to get a second thermometer to continually monitor the freezer. This is a great value at $14.53 shipped...1/25/2022

Love the big display
I'm using it to keep tabs on the temp inside of my freezer. It did its job as it saved my new 1/4 of beef that almost was ruined by the defrost cycle sticking on.

Great for price
Replacing an old radio shack model that showed the outside and inside temperatures with equally sized visible numbers. Although my primary concern is the outdoor temperature, it was nice seeing both temps from my recliner. The wire ripped in half as i I tried to wiggle it under the door trim but i was able to solder the two super tiny wires to restore functionality. I do believe the specs say this is a AA battery model, which is why I chose it over a comparable product that used a coin battery. To the seller: please reflect this in the specs. Otherwise I'm pleased with the purchase.

Eats Batteries, defective
Three battery replacements in three months, they should be lasting much longer like a year or two minimum. Temperature is off by 3-5+ degrees inside and out. DO NOT recommend!

Works well
I like this thermometer. It is accurate when compared to others in the house, the numbers are a good size, price excellent. It doesn't have a light, which I miss (I sometimes look at the temp. in the night, and I'm up early). For the price I am ok with this, I have a little flashlight beside it.

They Work Well
I bought two of these thermometers, they were inexpensive and when I put them side by side they read exactly the same temperature. The only small complaint I have is that although they can be set to Celcius or Farenheit, they will revert to Celcius after a short time no matter which setting I put them on. Other than that minor complaint, I am very happy with them.
