Review: Better than I originally thought. - Update: After actually using this product I have changed my mind on a few points I originally made. > The gasket is shipped loose, and is a larger diameter than the groove it goes into. This leads to confusion on how to properly install the gasket. It actually goes in the inner (deeper) groove, where it stays securely. Some documentation that explains the gasket installation would be a good idea. > With the gasket installed properly the strap pulls the lid down tight. Some pressure around the lid helps seat it. > The threaded bung in the lid allows stirring without removing the lid. Somewhat disappointing. The over-all design seems to be just OK, but it does have some issues. Honestly, I would look elsewhere. > Missing the lower part of the air-lock. The large hole in the provided stopper will not accept a standard 1/2" air-lock stem. I ordered a replacement, but $16 to ship a $10 item in a reasonable time is excessive. > The gasket falls out of the lid just like other reviews said. There doesn't appear to be a way to secure it. I'll try glue. > The strap that secures the lid is clunky. Fortunately it's not really needed. The lid is a snug fit without the strap. > The spigot at the bottom looks like it will break off with a slight kick. Not going to use it unless I want wine all over the floor.

**Q: Which is the shipping weight of the product?  in the product details section it states 4 ounces, but i thinks it is wrong.**
A: The shipped product's weight is around 10 pounds. Shipping rates depend on the seller you are purchasing from.  There are often multiple sellers for one particular product. **Q: How does the oring stay inplace? i tried the inner grove of lid then i'm unable to seal. if i use the outter grove inside the lid the oring falls out.**
A: i have 4 of these fermentors and it's only been a problem in one. The Oring goes in the outer ring with the little nubs sticking out to hold it in place. I usually have to sanitize the lid and oring. Let them get at least mostly dry and then it seems to hold better. I haven't had any contamination issues with this procedure. This has only been an issue in my newest fermentor, I think the tube diameter may be slightly smaller. I'm considering finding a food safe silicone to permanently fix it in place.

A: Hi Ian,
Do you mean is it made of HDPE material? The FDA has nothing to do with fermentation vessels. They are only involved with Food and Drugs.

**Q: Does the plastic get stained with the grape must?**
A: No I've not had problems with staining from must. It holds debris a bit more tenaciously than glass, but PBW and hot water knock that down pretty readily. I also use this to brew beer and have found retention of hop aroma a bigger challenge. When switching from beer to wine, I've cleaned it 2x with PBW to reduce that. All told, I really like it. I ran 1 12-gallon batch of Cab and 4 6-gallon batches of various Italian reds through it. Love the head room and ability to punch down the skins with only removing the airlock.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very good quality.

Its big and tough holds 60 L and you can lift it by the handles when its full... If you can lift it. Great for fermenting on grain BIAB works well. The lid and seal can be a little finicky but it seals up great. Love the giant air lock. If that thing is moving you KNOW it is fermenting. Spigot could be improved if you could attach a line to it. I may fabricate one on my own so I can hook up my Chugger pump to it.
