Review: As a busy mum to 3 children ( one child whom has Autism and Sensory Processing Disorder), I was struggling to fit in time making my own Pecs as I have done so previously using my laptop and pushing my half knackered laminator to the limit!- which took many many hours during the evenings . I came across these wonderful products they are exactly what I needed . I ordered quite a few Picture Exchange Communication Aids from -Autism Supplies and Developments- , the delivery was very quick and they were delivered in perfect condition. I am very impressed with the boards and cards They are clear, high quality Picture Communication Symbol images. The Laminate completed surrounds every card and board, sealing the paper within . You can see a.lot of care has been put into these made to order products as the corners have been cut rounded by hand, to reduce the chance of scratches/ being poked in the eye .I am pleased that the boards and symbols all came with good quality sticky backed Velcro, pre applied so we were able to use them immediately. The cost of each product was extremely good considering the amount of time each piece takes to make. I would highly recommend to anyone who has children whom have Autism/ special needs.as PECs help decrease negative behaviors that were caused by frustrations; Increase availability for learning and interaction; Increase relatedness and emotional closeness; Build spoken language skills . I will most definitely be ordering again from Autism supplies and development

- A fantastic tool to encourage users to take responsibility for ensuring they are prepared and packed appropriately for the day ahead. The detachable sentence strip displays what they need to pack and take with them and is extremely feature, giving a clear visual reminder to be easily carried around the house while they pack their bag.
- Both board and symbols are made from plastic so they are incredible durable and hardwearing
- The board is A4 in size which is a good size for both display on the wall and also to keep on the desk for easy access and reference. The symbols themselves are 4.5cm square, an easy to both see and handle.
- Includes pre printed plastic symbols for the 7 days of the week, several common places to spend the day, and a collection of common items that are often required (a total of 23 symbols). However, we use hook and loop fasteners with our products, to ensure that the board is also compatible with your existing symbol library.
- Uses the same symbols as the Boardmaker software, which are the images that most schools and facilities rely on. This means that individuals are likely to already be familiar with the symbols used which can be extremely important when trying to encourage the use of the product. The images are Mayer Johnson images, by Dynavox Mayer Johnson, and are used with permission.

**Q: Why do you use symbols not photos? Don't photos work better?**
A: Using symbols instead of photos means the concept is generalised. A photo of a book means that particular book. Not a different reading book, or textbook, or homework book. A book symbol ensures consistency.

**Q: What makes your visual supports much more durable?**
A: Our visual are made from non-toxic plastic. The images are printed directly onto the plastic, so they can't split like laminated card, & are waterproof. They won't rip or crease like cardstock, yet they are lightweight and semi-flexible for safety.

**Q: What size are the board and symbols? Why are they this size?**
A: The board is A4 and the symbols are 4.5cm. The board is great to either display, and the sentence strip to carry around with you. The symbols have been designed to be perfectly sized - small for young hands to hold yet large enough to easily see.

**Q: How many symbols come with the board?**
A: The board comes with 23 common symbols, including the days of the week and 5 different places. They have all been chosen in consultation with our customers. Hook and loop ensures the board is compatible with your existing PECs symbol library though.

**Q: Can this be customised?**
A: Unfortunately not, because the plastic printing process means symbols need to be mass produced. However, it comes with 23 pre-printed symbols that have been chosen in consultation with our customers, and symbol expansion packs are available.
