I did just look at the instructions (Not very detailed I might add) and there are no care instructions included. The caps are a little hard to get off, but other than that I think had less growth of anything else on top of the brine than when using a coffee filter. The lid seals are great and just don't fill jar so high that you can't get the stem of the airlock to seal into the o-ring in the center.You can use the lid center o-ring cap to seal it and put in fridge if want. But I just use my regular mason jar lids.
