Ultimate Bee Gees

Shortly before Robin passed away, I set out to collect everything Bee Gees I could get my hands on, and started with this. A lot of great reviews, which I won't try to duplicate. Just to say this is the best survey of Bee Gees music you're going to find anywhere. No, it doesn't replace the separate albums, especially the pre-Stayin' Alive days. But a very good reminder of how talented they were, what great songs they cranked out, and a very good starting place for anyone wanting to fall back in love with one of the hardest working groups or musicians and entertainers around. When everyone else was fading and losing stream, they kept on going right past mean spirited dee-jays and music business guys, past their top 40 shelf life, and right on into history as one of the longest lasting working bands in music history. I've gone on to purchase just about every album they released. Not a bum song on the set. If you want a greatest hits set, this one is it.

MY FAVORITE GROUP OF THE 80'S

This is it. The most definitive, best sounding career encompassing Bee Gees collection. Well worth purchase even if you have prior collections. Can't beat the sound and although everyone can always point to a song or two they wished was on it, I honestly can't think of any gross omission. A minor quibble, it would have been nice to have studio versions of the live songs, but I understand most of these songs were never released by the Bee Gees in studio versions. Crank it up loud. These great songs have never sounded better. No matter what Bee Gees era you prefer they sound incredible in this package. So, if you desire one Bee Gees CD, this is it.

I like the Greatest Hits better as it reminds me of the 8-Track in our car going on summer vacations! However, this is a great compilation of old and new Bee Gee songs. I am a fan of the newer Disco 70's songs. If you are a fan of the earlier Beatles style songs they wrote and sang, this CD is for you! It's the best of both and great sound quality!

This may be of little value to many readers, but it will make sense to those collecting Bee Gees music. These two discs were released by Reprise (a division of Warner Brothers Recording studio). Another set of 4 CDs will be released shortly (as of the writing of this) called "Anthology" and that set is from Rhino records. I attempted to send the corrections to Amazon twice, but the automated system didn't seem to understand what I entered. In any case, there is a BIG difference between the number, order and variety of songs on Anthology and those on Ultimate, so I recommend that you check them both out before you buy. I thoroughly enjoy this CD set and will probably also purchase the Rhino set as well. Again, this is for those who might be misled by the stated label on this listing.

Wow...talk about a fantastic mega collection of Bee Gees hits! I have not been able to stop listening to this two disc set since it arrived. Disc one is a high energy compilation of primarily the later hits. Its a party to go! You can't help wanting to get up and move to it, or sing along...especially if you listened to this music as it was released during the 70's - 90's. Nice addition of "This Is Where I Came In" towards the end, a killer track, to bring the group up to their last release in 2001, as well as a great live version of "Spicks and Specks", one of their first hits in the 60's. Disc two features the earlier material, the soulful ballads, and also includes three live tracks of songs written for others (all hits in their own right). It is a mellow, beautiful, romantic disc...again you can't help but sing along! The writing, the harmonies, the energy, the masterful skill of words and music of The Bee Gees...its all here. This is top quality performance and production...buy this!

At my parents 50th wedding anniversary celebration held the other evening, we saw some folks that we used to go to in the summer and head to their cabin on a lake near Westlock Alberta. Now what does that have to do with this? Well it was the first time that I heard, really, the Bee Gees. They had a tape of one of the albums and I put it in and then put the tape player (independent one) into a basket on a bike and rode back and forth on the dirt road beside their place and totally loved the music! This is an excellent package and would never be a mistake for anyone to get and add to their collection, guaranteed! I have their last 'live' album from when they had their concert on Vegas and heard even more, that I had never heard before and I loved it, obviously still do, and it was not even a question if this package would be excellent to have and as it arrived, after listening to it, I was not disappointed!

Immer wieder toll fürs Mitsingen und -tanzen für die, die ihre Jugend in den 70er und 80er Jahren verbrachten! Man kennt fast jedes Lied und bekommt heute noch gute Laune beim Hören!

I have been looking for the ultimate Bee Gees album and after lots of research believe this to be it. Forty tracks on two CD's that take you down memory lane and are recommended for any fan of the Bee Gees. The album is well priced by Amazon, far cheaper than the high street, or other online stores, and was delivered ahead of schedule. My only complaint is that the case was broken on arrival, badly handled by the couriers with a foot print clearly visible on the cardboard box. Double cases are difficult to obtain so I guess it's time to transfer them all into a protective box and scrap the cases. Amazon pricing and product. 5 stars Courier.(D*L) Minus 5 stars
