Check out the feature sets for PulseView and Saleae Logic software. **Q: Anyone get this error msg? the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). click ok to close the application.** A: I was experiencing the same error with Sigrok's PulseView x64 and ZaDiag x64 not properly starting, with the OS tossing a 0xc000007b error dialog every time I tried to launch either app. As with the other answerer, the 32bit version would install and would start, but not work correctly with this LA. I ended up giggling my way to success in determining that I didn't have the right .net libs yet installed on this box (a fresh install of Win10 x64). This site (www.techjunkie.com/0xc00007b/) pointed me to the right download needed, in the section 'HOW TO FIX ‘THE APPLICATION WAS UNABLE TO START CORRECTLY 0XC00007B’ ERRORS' - I did the Microsoft Visual C++ 'x64' recommendation (the 'x64 version' of the MS Visual C redistributable). After this, I was able to install and successfully launch the x64 versions of both the PulseView and ZaDiag apps. Currently, I am still struggling with getting PulseView x64 to work with this LA correctly, even after using ZaDiag x64 to change the driver to the default one it offers when it launches. Still working that and will update once I get it. For now, I reverted to using Saleae's Logic 1.2.29 Beta app (available from heresupport.saleae.com/logic-software/latest-beta-release - link good as of 10Jun19). To get Saleae's app to work with it, I had to repeatedly uninstall the device (including deleting the drivers) from the MMC Device Manager snap-in until, when searching for new plug and play hardware, it shows up as 'unknown device'. Once to that point, running the Saleae app should result in it seeing the driverless device with the HW IDs it is looking for and will assimilate it and install the drivers for it, and instantiate it as a 'USB Serial Bus controller|Saleae Logic USB Logic Analyzer', enabling this LA to be used from the Saleae Logic 1.2.29 app (images: i.imgur.com/J60jm8A.png & https://i.imgur.com/NA0MabE.png). As indicated above, once I get this LA to work with the 64-bit version of PulseView/ZaDiag properly, I will update this answer with additional details. I am happy with this purachase ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good basic hobby logic analyzer *by C***R on 17 January 2019* Summary Pros - inexpensive, works well with free open source software Cons - no on board capture buffer, no probes included This is a good little logic analyzer for the home hobbyist or even a small development team. The hardware uses a CY7C68013A microcontroller (an 8051 MCU core with an integrated USB 2.0 interface). It comes with a USB A to mini USB B cable and some short jumpers wires. It is powered by USB so there is no other power supply to deal with. There is no on board capture buffer so your computer needs to be fast enough to receive the data as it comes over USB. With most systems that shouldn’t be an issue providing you are not doing any other intensive tasks, particularly those that use USB, at the same time. Trying to run all 8 channels at 24Mhz though could be an issue on some systems. Looking at the board, there isn’t any input buffering other than series resistors. Care must be taken not to expose the channel inputs to voltages that could damage the on board microcontroller. There is no software included, but one can download the open source sigrok/PulseView which fully supports this device. I tested it with PulseView 0.4.1 on a Windows 10 system and it was recognized as “Saleae Logic” analyzer (an older name brand analyzer). The only part that could be slightly tricky to getting PulseView working is installing the WinUSB driver using Zadig. If you are unfamiliar with Zadig, you can read about it on the sigrok wiki area for windows. Since this board emulates a “Saleae Logic”, there are also commercial software offerings that should work with it. I did an initial test using two channels simultaneously reading a 115200 bps data stream (sample rate set to 500kHz) and it worked flawlessly. PulseView easily decoded the ASCII data once configured. I again captured the same stream setting at 24Mhz (which is way over sampled for the data stream) just to see what it would do, and it worked fine showing the much more frequent sample rate. I’m not aware of a way to setup anything but a simple trigger to start/stop capture using PulseView. That is a software limitation if you are trying to catch a more complex event that occurs infrequently. The jumper wires that came with it are of limited use unless you always have available header pins to connect to in your circuit (doubtful).
