I didn't put on my unit and it is working fine. **Q: what is the minimum voltage from solar panel needed? my location is partialy shaded so I get 5.5 in direct sunlight in morning and 3.5 in afternoon** A: The minimum voltage required from the solar panel is 4.4-6V. In your case, you could connect a 3.7V Lipo battery at the BAT IN side. When the sunlight is not strong, the device can be powered by the lithium battery. When the sunlight is intense, the solar panel can power the device and also charge the lithium battery. **Q: Open circuit voltage is 7.2V operating is 6 volts on my solar panels will this work with solar power manager 5 volt 6 volts max** A: I had a little trouble with one of mine that had open circuit voltage above 6v.
